Supergirl star Odette Annable will join Jared Padalecki in the upcoming Walker, Texas Ranger reboot. Set to premiere on The CW in January 2021, the series centers on Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a widower that relocates to Austin with his two children after operating undercover for two years. Carrying the weight of his wife’s suspicious death, Cordell finds that the bulk of his work has only just begun. The reboot has already gathered an impressive cast, including Padalecki’s real wife Genevieve in the role of Cordell’s deceased spouse Emily.

According to EW, Odette Annable is the latest familiar face who will be popping up on Walker. Annable, who is known for her portrayal of Samantha Arias/Reign on Supergirl, will recur as Geri. The bartender at a local establishment called the Side Step, Geri is an old friend of Walker and Emily. Even though Geri hasn’t seen Walker since Emily’s funeral, it’s teased that the two characters have a long history.

Annable will appear on the reboot, alongside X-Files veteran Mitch Pileggi, Pretty Little Liars alum Keegan Allen, The 100 star Lindsey Morgan and iZombie’s Molly Hagan. It’s clear that, for his first big role after Supernatural, Padalecki will share his scenes with a number of well-known performers from other shows. This will likely help the reboot as it attempts to build an audience and distinguish itself from the original.
