The CW's Walker has added Ashley Reyes, star of American Gods, to its cast as Jared Padalecki's new partner. The series is a reimagining of the original Walker, Texas Ranger series, which ran from 1993 to 2001 and starred Chuck Norris. Set in the modern day, Walker presents Cordell Walker (Padalecki) as its lead star, a widowed father of two who returns to his work in Austin, Texas after spending two years undercover on a high-profile crime case.

According to The Wrap, the series has added Reyes to its line-up as Cassie Perez. This recent casting decision comes after actress Lindsey Morgan, who played the co-lead Micki Ramirez, left Walker in December for personal reasons. Reyes' new character is described as "unconventional and wily, quick on her feet," and someone who isn't afraid to break the mold as the only woman in her field. The new partner dynamic will look to replace the void left by Micki Ramirez (Morgan), a strong-willed character who proved a fan favorite until her exit in the mid-season 2 finale.

Cassie, who is said to be a former Texas State Trooper, will first appear in the next episode of Walker, titled "Nudge", which will air on March 3. Walker is written and executive produced by Anna Fricke, and the recent Walker season 2, episode 7 was directed by none other than Jensen Ackles, who starred alongside Padalecki in the CW hit series Supernatural for 15 seasons. As season 2 continues to follow the Walker family as they confront the evils of their past under the eyes of a mysterious on-looker, audiences are no doubt excited to see how Reyes' Cassie will stack up against Walker's previous partner in Micki Ramirez, and whether their pairing will prove to be a harmonious one as Walker season 2 continues.
