Walker season 2 casts The Black Phone star Mason Thames as a young Cordell. Earlier this year, The CW debuted the Walker, Texas Ranger, reboot, titled Walker. Starring Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) as Cordell Walker, the series follows the titular Texas Ranger, a widower with two children, who is haunted by the suspicious circumstances of his wife’s death. Starring Lindsey Morgan, Keegan Allen, Mitch Pileggi, and Genevieve Padalecki as Walker’s deceased wife, the series was renewed for season 2.

Per ComicBook, Thames joins the Walker cast for season 2 as a younger version of Cordell. Recently appearing in the Apple+ series For All Mankind, Thames stars opposite Ethan Hawke in the upcoming horror film The Black Phone. Set to appear in flashback scenes in the new season of Walker, the coming-of-age version of Cordell is described as “a curious troublemaker and romantic who has the making of a maverick lawman," according to The CW.

For now, it appears Walker is gearing up for an exciting season 2. In addition to the reveal that Walker will feature a series of flashbacks that could tie in to current events, the show will reunite Padalecki with his former Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles, who will direct season 2, episode 7, of Walker. Of course, it appears Walker season 2 is ready to add a new element to the season with the addition of Thames to the cast. Indeed, Walker season 1 ended on a cliffhanger and has a lot of loose ends to tie up in the next installment. Walker season 2 is set to debut on October 28 on The CW.
