Fans of The Voice are wondering why a new The Voice season won't be airing until fall 2022. When the show first premiered back in 2011, in the spring, viewers were introduced to a reality singing competition that was different from anything they'd ever seen before. The series became so popular that network execs decided to air two seasons a year (one in winter/spring and the other in the fall). However, starting in 2022, all of that is going to change.

Since the series has been on the air, viewers have always had the pleasure of watching a couple of seasons throughout the year. However, this year, things are going to look a little different on The Voice's network. In the winter/spring, it seems like fans of the show will have to find something new to watch because The Voice producers have decided that it is best to do only one season a year, starting in the fall.

According to PopCulture, The Voice is going to make this change to keep the show popular. Frances Berwick, the chairman of entertainment networks at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, had this to say, "Going into the 21st cycle in the fall, The Voice remains one of the most popular shows on television and we want to keep it that way. We want to eventize this iconic series. We think The Voice will be on NBC for a very long time to come and we believe the best way to protect the brand, while also superserving fans is to produce one amazing cycle this year."

The Voice Season 21 Coaches

If the show still continues to follow the typical format in the fall, viewers will likely get a new season towards the end of September 2022. The show usually airs during the third week of the month. If it follows that schedule, viewers can expect a premiere date around September 19, 2022. It seems like a long time to wait, but viewers will more than likely get the same coaches on their screens, (except perhaps Ariana Grande). However, there is the chance that she won't return to compete for another season to try for her first win as a coach on The Voice. It isn't uncommon for a coach to take a season off and then return, so that could be a possibility for her as well.

Although this is something new that The Voice viewers will have to get used to, there is the possibility that things won't unfold the way that producers anticipate. If this is the case, the show's higher-ups may decide to give fans two seasons a year again. For now, fans of the show will have to wait a little while longer to see the coaches sitting in their red "turning chairs." However, if they can't wait that long, they can watch previous seasons of The Voice streaming through the Peacock app, until the new season begins to air.
