Julia Michaels returned to The Voice season 19 to be a Battle Rounds advisor. Fans of the pop musician may not know that she’s appeared on another reality TV show in the past.

Julia Michaels was first brought onto The Voice season 14 as a Battle advisor for Adam Levine’s team. In the current season, Gwen Stefani brought Michaels back into the competition to be her advisor for the Battle Rounds. Even though Julia has only made an appearance on The Voice a few times, she has a long history in the world of music. When she was 17, Michaels co-wrote the theme song for the Disney series Austin and Ally. Julia also co-wrote Bad Liar by Selena Gomez, Used to Love You by Gwen Stefani, Slumber Party by Britney Spears featuring Tinashe, and Pretty Please by Dua Lipa. Even though she’s done tons of work in the industry, Michaels didn’t get her big break until she released Issues in 2017. She also appeared on a Canadian reality show called The Launch.

The Launch is a Canadian musical reality television show. Unlike other music reality series, The Launch features a winner every week. Following the competition, the crowned artist releases a brand-new single that very night. Before the singers perform, they’re mentored by industry pros. The Launch features well-known judges and mentors, including Shania Twain, Nikki Sixx, Alessia Cara, and Scott Borchetta. In The Launch season one, which aired in 2018, Julia Michaels was a mentor for the fifth episode, "Codes." See an Instagram pic of Julia Michaels below:

In the fifth episode, the winner was Jayd Ink, who completely blew away the judges. Jayd is from Toronto, Canada, and is of Jamaican descent. In 2015, she released an EP called Invitation Only and has been headlining shows in Toronto ever since. The R&B and soul singer-songwriter has traveled to Japan to perform alongside K.Camp, DJ Whoo Kid, and Silento. Jayd auditioned with the song Sorry by Justin Bieber, which Michaels coincidentally co-wrote. During the reality show episode, Julia declared that Jayd Ink was a “damn star”.

Julia did an excellent job selecting the winner on her episode on The Launch. Fans hope to see more of her on The Voice. Maybe she’ll be a judge in future seasons!
