Carson Daly did not think Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's relationship was a good idea. In a recent interview, The Voice host reminded Gwen of their conversation when she and Blake first started dating. Gwen and Blake got engaged just last year and are currently planning their wedding together.

Blake Shelton is the only judge to be on every season of The Voice since the show's start back in 2011. He is set to return to the show yet again for the 20th season later this year. Gwen Stefani joined Blake on the judges' panel for the first time in 2014 for the 7th season of the show. Since then, Gwen has alternated between being a judge, being an advisor, and taking time away from the show. One year after her first season on the show, Blake and Gwen started dating. The couple showed off their flirty bickering while on the show together. Gwen won her first season of the show in 2020 when her team member Carter Rubin was crowned the winner of season 19 of The Voice.

Not everyone thought Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani would make a good couple. In a recent interview with TodayGwen reflected on the early days of her romance with Blake. Carson reminded Gwen of his advice to her when she first started dating her now fiancé. He shared a story from five years ago when Gwen first started her time on The Voice. Carson had gone over to Gwen's house in Los Angeles at the time to sit her down and discuss her new romance. He remembered sitting in Gwen's kitchen with both her and Blake. He advised the new couple to "pump the brakes" on their romance, as he felt it would not work out for the two. He assured Gwen that she was "much, much too good" to be dating Blake. Carson went on to compliment Gwen, calling her smart and intelligent. Gwen along with Today co-anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie laughed as Carson told his story.

Hoda praised Gwen, telling her that this is her year as she is not only engaged to Blake Shelton but has a brand new hit song out. Gwen admitted that "every day [she] thanks the Lord." Gwen went on to brag about her soon to be husband, explaining that there isn't anything that she doesn't love about him. She described him as "one of the most generous human beings and down-to-earth." Gwen reflected on meeting Blake when she first joined The Voice, barely even knowing who he was. She called their romance a "miracle" as she can now live in pure happiness for a very long time. The romance between Gwen and Blake was unexpected as she did not see it coming "after such devastation." This will be Gwen's second marriage as her divorce to Gavin Rossdale was finally annulled earlier this month.

If Gwen Stefani had taken Carson Daly's advice, she would not be getting ready to marry Blake Shelton right now. The couple may not have Carson Daly to thank for their romance but they definitely owe it to The Voice. Without the show, the two may have never met.
