As The Voice season 21 gets underway, the judges have selected their first sets of "voice battle pairings." The latest season of the well-received singing competition series has returned with even more passion and excitement than ever before. With Ariana Grande joining the panel of judges, season 21 has plenty of surprises and celebrity appearances to keep the long-running series fresh and inventive.
With a number of astounding performances and emotional moments on the initial episodes of the season during auditions, The Voice season 21 invites eclectic, talented singers to join judges Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Ariana Grande, and Blake Shelton on their journey through the series' various competitions. Ahead of the 7th episode on October 11, The Voice posted a sneak peek video on Twitter containing the first pairings for the battles round. In the video, Ariana shares that she first chose Bella DeNapoli vs. Katie Rae, who will sing "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. She next chose Chavon Rodgers vs. David Vogel and gave them "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" by Fall Out Boy. Lastly, Ariana paired Katherine Ann Mohler vs. Vaughn Mugol, who will sing "Dilemma" by Nelly and Kelly Rowland. John Legend announced he selected KJ Jennings vs. Samuel Harness to sing "I Know What You Did Last Summer" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. His next pairing was Brittanybree vs. Samara Brown. He gave them "Something He Can Feel" by Aretha Franklin.
Kelly strategically chose to begin the competition with Girl Named Tom vs. Kinsey Rose, who will sing "Seven Bridges Road" by The Eagles. Kelly's next pairing is Jeremy Rosado vs. Jershika Maple singing "Hold On" by Justin Bieber. Lastly, Kelly chose Carolina Alonso vs. Xavier Cornell. For this pairing, she chose "Telepatía" by Kali Uchis. Blake decided to include The Joy Reunion vs. Peedy Chavis singing "Joy To the World" by Three Dog Night. He then chose Hailey Green vs. Lana Scott and assigned them "Girl" by Marren Morris. Blake's last pairing is Libianca vs. Tommy Edwards singing "Save Your Tears" by The Weeknd ft. Ariana Grande.
With a diverse cast of judges on The Voice, both in personality and style, season 21 allows contestants to be mentored by some of the biggest stars to participate in the series. The show also features a number of guest stars. The battles round specifically features Kristin Chenoweth, Camila Cabello, Jason Aldean, and Dierks Bentley.
