Genshin Impact’s Version 1.6 update “Midsummer Island Adventure” has been officially released in every region, and the patch comes with a plethora of exciting new summer content. New playable characters, new minigames, new outfits, and new quests mean this update should be full of activities for players to experience this month.
The majority of the new content in this Genshin Impact update comes with the new region, the Golden Apple Archipelago. Here’s how to reach these mysterious Genshin Impact islands and begin the summer adventures.
How to Reach the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact
Players need to be at least Adventure Rank 21, have completed Act 1 of Klee’s Story Quest, and have completed Act III of the Prologue to begin the quest to unlock the Golden Apple Archipelago in Genshin Impact. If players have met these criteria, Paimon will suggest they visit Klee upon opening the game for the first time after the update.
Players will need to enter the Knights of Favonius Headquarters to begin the quest. After entering, Klee will frantically greet the player, informing them she received a letter inviting her to a mysterious island, where she must challenge the Dodo-King to prove her familial relation to her favorite stuffed toy Dodoco.
After initial confusion on the contents of the letter, the traveler will be tasked with asking people around Mondstadt about the mysterious islands. The NPCs to speak with are Cyrus, Marjorie, and Huffman, who will all be marked on the minimap.
After a fruitless investigation in the town, Klee and the traveler decide to ask Lisa about the islands. Players must enter the Library located in the Knights of Favonius Headquarters, where Lisa resides. After taking a glance at the letter, Lisa will have the traveler use Elemental Sight, which will reveal a map of the mysterious islands at the back of the letter.
Before figuring out how to get to the islands, Klee has to get approval for some time off from Jean. Going across the hall in the Knights of Favonius Headquarters will lead to Jean’s office, where Barbara and Jean are having a discussion. While Jean initially denies Klee’s request, Barbara promises the traveler she’ll work to convince her. To give Barbara some time, players must meet her at the Plaza outside the Church between 12:00 and 18:00 the next day. Players can either wait this period and do a different activity or use the clock feature to skip time.
After meeting with everyone the next day, Barbara and Jean reveal they will be accompanying Klee and the traveler on their journey. As they still don’t know where the islands are, they decide to ask Venti, who is located next to the Statue of the Seven at Windrise.
When talking to Venti, he reveals that he knows where the islands are, and notes they used to be called the “Haar Islands," despite the fact citizens know them now as the “Golden Apple Islands." To help the player get to the island, Venti plays his lyre, summoning the dragon Dvalin to carry the team to the islands.
Through a brief cutscene in which the characters ride Dvalin, the team will be dropped off at the new location. The islands are initially covered with a thick fog, but players will soon unlock the Waverider, initiating the first new island quest of Version 1.6.
Arriving at the Golden Apple Islands in Genshin Impact will let players participate in all the fun minigames the Midsummer Island Adventure update has to offer. Unlocking the Teleportation Waypoints will let players teleport around the islands, and using the bottom right corner of the Map will let players return to Teyvat whenever they wish. The islands will no longer be accessible after Version 1.6, so players should grab the opportunity and explore as much as they can while it lasts.
