The trailer for Virgin River season 4 hints at a rocky patch for its central romantic couple Mel and Jack. The Netflix drama premiered in 2019 and is based on Robyn Carr's Virgin River book series, of which there are a whopping 22 novels. The series follows Melinda "Mel" Monroe, who leaves her traumatic past in Los Angeles behind and answers an ad to be a midwife in the small Northern California town where she falls in love with ex-Marine/bar owner Jack.

Netflix recently released a trailer that clears up a number of season 3 cliffhangers while also promising more drama ahead. Preacher is alive and Hope is recovering after her car accident-induced coma. But things don't look like smooth sailing for Mel and Jack's relationship, as the paternity of her child comes into question, and both Jack's estranged father and a handsome new doctor come to town, leading Jack to lean on alcohol to cope.
