Vincent D'Onofrio is eager to play Kingpin again in the MCU. The actor debuted the role in Marvel TV and Netflix's Daredevil series, where he played the main antagonist to Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock. The pair's collective and individual performances were so good that fans naturally want to see more of them on the screen as their Marvel characters.

This is why, despite Daredevil season 3 functioning as an effective series ender, there were immediate calls for it to be renewed for another year. Unfortunately, Marvel TV and Netflix's ties were soon dissolved, presumably to give way to Marvel Studios producing its own small screen content for Disney's own streaming service, Disney+. It's been several years since this whole thing went down, and yet, fans continue to push on the idea of bringing D'Onofrio and Cox back as Kingpin and Daredevil. There hasn't been any concrete indication that this will happen, but recently, rumors have been persistent that they might just pop up in Spider-Man: No Way Home and/or Hawkeye TV show.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, D'Onofrio admitted that he takes it as a compliment that many are holding out hope that he will be in the MCU. The actor didn't give away any indication whether or not those speculations are true, but he made it clear that he's totally down to reprise the character. At this point, he's just waiting for Marvel Studios to reach out to him. Read what D'Onofrio said below:

I do take it as a compliment. I so badly want to play that character again. I love that character. I just have to wait for Marvel to ask me. I think it's very clear that I would, and the fans know that I would jump at the chance to play again. I just need to be asked.

Admittedly, it would be tricky to incorporate Kingpin into the MCU. Despite being marketed as part of the bigger franchise, Marvel Studios has distanced itself from Marvel TV's projects. This makes sense from a creative standpoint, since they don't have any input in those shows. Preserving the continuity of the films and their latest small-screen endeavors is tricky enough, and will be even more so if they include stories that they weren't really involved in crafting. Things are a little bit different now, however. The multiverse is in shambles and they risk overlapping with each other. Perhaps this version of Kingpin and Daredevil can come from an entirely different timeline where they made their way to the Sacred Timeline.

With Marvel Studios still mum about the matter, it's difficult to predict what Kingpin's MCU fate will be. Nonetheless, between the fact that D'Onofrio was so great as the character and fans clearly still wanting to see more from him, bringing him to the franchise makes sense. In any case, if they're already re-introducing Cox's Daredevil, they might as well also do the same thing for his arch-enemy.
