Daredevil actor Vincent D'Onofrio shared a new piece of Joker artwork created by artist David Mack - and it wasn't long before someone turned it into a meme. D'Onofrio played Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin in all three seasons of Daredevil and was praised for his intense and emotional performance as the classic comic book villain.

In season 1 of Daredevil, Fisk is browsing an art gallery when he comes across a textured white painting called "Rabbit in a Snowstorm," which he connects to his traumatic childhood and instantly falls in love with. He also falls in love with the art gallery's curator, Vanessa. The shot of Kingpin standing in front of "Rabbit in a Snowstorm" was one of the most memorable moments of the Netflix series, so it's little wonder that someone made the connection between Kingpin's painting obsession and D'Onofrio's new artwork.

D'Onofrio shared a watercolor artwork of Joker by author and artist David Mack, whose signature style fans may recognize from Marvel Comics' Daredevil and Jessica Jones covers. The artwork depicts Joaquin Phoenix's version of the iconic Batman villain, who stars in his own standalone origin story film Joker, out in theaters next month. Actor José Mellinas responded by combining the painting with Daredevil's "Rabbit in a Snowstorm."

It's very possible that D'Onofrio will re-enact Kingpin's fascination with "Rabbit in a Snowstorm" with Mack's painting in his own home. The actor responded to the edited image with good humor, saying, "I knew that image was eventually coming but I never would of guessed that quickly." As for the original "Rabbit in a Snowstorm," it was sold for $6,250 during a big Marvel TV auction that included over 750 items from Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, so right now some lucky bidder gets the privilege of staring at it for hours on end in a tribute to Kingpin.

Daredevil was cancelled, along with all of Netflix's other Marvel shows, after three seasons, and there are currently no signs of a revival. Disney is launching its own streaming service, Disney+, but is focusing on new Marvel shows that have closer ties to the movie side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision. Unfortunately, we may have seen the last of D'Onofrio as Kingpin, but at least that version of the character will live on in memes.
