Actor Vincent D'Onofrio shares his reaction to Charlie Cox returning to the MCU as Daredevil. From 2015-2018, Cox played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Marvel's Daredevil series on Netflix across 3 seasons. As the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, Cox played an opposing force to the criminal underworld plaguing New York City. Cox reprised the role for The Defenders series, which brought together the other Netflix Marvel heroes such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.

D'Onofrio, better known to MCU fans as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a The Kingpin, starred alongside Cox in Marvel's Daredevil. D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk proved to be the big bad of season 1 and had a recurring story arc that continued in seasons 2 and 3. Since the series ended, fans have had high hopes that both D'Onofrio and Cox would join the MCU. Now, with Kevin Feige confirming that Cox will return as Daredevil in future MCU projects, Marvel fans aren't the only ones excited for his return.

D'Onofrio has been a vocal supporter of the series over the years, interacting with fans on social media and sharing his own favorite theories on the show. When the news hit that Cox would be returning as the MCU's Daredevil, D'Onofrio had some words to say about it. Calling Cox, "a great actor and wonderful guy," D'Onofrio took to twitter to share his excitement that Cox was returning as Daredevil in the MCU:

D'Onofrio wasn't the only one to congratulate the Daredevil star, however. Comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz also tweeted his congratulations to Cox, saying it was "well-deserved fantastic news," while also including his own hopeful plea to Marvel that D'Onofrio should return as Fisk as well. Sienkiewicz is known for his artwork on Daredevil comics, including developing Kingpin's iconic larger-than-life, bulky frame that was recently depicted in Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse. With Sienkiewicz and D'Onofrio both championing Cox's return, Kingpin's own return to the MCU could be sooner than later. Check out his tweet below:

Since the release of Hawkeye, fans have speculated on whether or not the series will introduce Fisk as the mysterious "uncle" of Tracksuit Mafia leader, Maya Lopez/Echo. While D'Onofrio hasn't been confirmed to return as Fisk, Feige's remarks about Netflix's Marvel characters and Cox returning as Daredevil offers some hope for fans like Sienkiewicz. D'Onofrio's interpretation of Fisk was a monstrous force of power and wits. To see him go toe-to-toe with Cox's Daredevil once again would be enjoyable, but it would also open up other possibilities in the MCU. Daredevil and Fisk both have ties to characters like Spider-Man and The Fantastic Four. With Spider-Man: No Way Home opening up the multiverse (and an as-yet-untitled Fantastic Four film in the works), it's possible that the one of these films could set up Daredevil and Fisk's arrival to the MCU.
