A very popular Vikings theory says Floki will become the new Seer, and it could happen in the final episodes of season 6. Created by Michael Hirst, Vikings debuted on History Channel in 2013, and though it was originally planned to be a miniseries, it was renewed for a second season not long after. Vikings continued telling the stories of Ragnar, Lagertha, Rollo, and more, and is now enjoying its sixth and final season.

Vikings initially followed the journeys of legendary Norse figure Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his Viking brothers, among those his real brother, Rollo (Clive Standen). The series gradually shifted its focus to Ragnar’s sons and their travels, making them the protagonists, though that didn’t make Ragnar’s death any easier for fans. Vikings has also explored the stories of other characters close to Ragnar and his family, such as Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård).

The eccentric boat builder was a mystery even to those close to him, and is currently unknown if he’s still alive or not. However, many fans still believe that Floki’s story is not over yet, and he’s up for something big.

Vikings Theory: Floki Will Return As The New Seer

Vikings The Seer

The Seer was the Oracle of Kattegat, and was a being with supernatural powers and the ability to communicate with the gods. Residents of Kattegat often went to him with questions about their lives and future. As such, he was a well respected and important figure in Kattegat, and everyone licked his hand as a sign of respect. However, when Floki met him, the Seer had a very different reaction, which has made many fans wonder if he knew something very important about his and Floki’s future.

The Seer told Floki he had been waiting for him for a long time “in the space between life and death”, and though Floki was as confused as viewers, the Seer added that he knew what he meant, and asked him to show him who he was. The Seer then licked Floki’s hand instead of the other way around. It’s this moment which has made fans believe Floki is “the chosen one” to take the Seer’s place (as he was killed by Ivar in season 5), though he had to go on his own journey first. The last time Vikings fans saw Floki, he entered a cave he believed was an entrance to Helheim, but instead he found a Christian cross inside. The cave turned out to be inside an active volcano, which erupted and trapped him inside. Though it hasn’t been confirmed if Skarsgård will appear in season 6, he was spotted on set during filming, so there’s hope for one final Floki appearance, which could be his return as the new Seer.
