Clive Standen played one of the main characters in Vikings since season 1, but what has he done since his time at the show came to an end? Created by Michael Hirst, Vikings made its debut on History Channel in 2013, and though it was originally planned to be a miniseries, it was so well-received by critics and audiences that it was renewed for a second season. Vikings made it to its sixth season, and fans are now waiting for the series’ final batch of episodes to arrive.

Vikings initially followed legendary Norse figure Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his travels and raids alongside his Vikings brothers, among those his actual brother, Rollo (Clive Standen). As the series progressed, it began to shift its focus to Ragnar’s sons and their own journeys, but it didn’t forget about the rest of the characters, and Rollo’s story continued until season 5. So far, Rollo hasn’t come back in Vikings season 6, and unless the series has a surprise reserved for its final episodes, Standen’s time in the series is pretty much over – but he hasn’t been inactive.

Clive Standen was part of Vikings from season 1 to season 5, with a minor break in the process. Rollo left near the end of season 4, after Ragnar was killed when King Aelle threw him into a pit of snakes, but he returned in the second part of season 5 to add more drama to the mix. Rollo arrived to urge Lagertha and Bjorn to return with him to Frankia and revealed himself as Bjorn’s biological father. Rollo left again, and there are no signs of a possible return yet. Standen’s time in Vikings, then, ended in 2018, but he has been involved in various movie and TV projects ever since. Standen appeared in the movie In Like Flynn, an Australian biographical movie based on the life of Errol Flynn, as well as in the crime thriller Vault. Standen also had a role in the sci-fi horror movie Patient Zero, which even though was released in 2018, was filmed in 2015.

Outside the world of Vikings, Standen might be best remembered for starring in the series Taken, based on the film series of the same name. Standen played Bryan Mills, Liam Neeson’s character in the films, but the series was canceled after two seasons. Standen also had a lead role in the thriller series Mirage, and his latest TV project was Council of Dads. The series was inspired by the book of the same name by Bruce Feiler, and followed a cancer patient who worried about his children growing up without him, and so he and his wife recruited three friends to act as a “council of dads” to be father figures to their children. Sadly, the series was canceled after one season.

Clive Standen doesn’t have more projects lined up for the near future, or at least none that have been made public yet. As mentioned above, it’s still somewhat possible that Vikings has one more surprise saved for its final episodes and thus brings Rollo back one last time, even if just to give proper closure to his arc. Standen is now a widely-known name thanks to his time as Rollo, and will surely continue working on different projects.
