Characters from History's Vikings lived lives that are nothing like ours. Their main goal in life was to get into Valhalla, so they didn't really care much about how they spend their time on earth. Consequently, they were quick to anger and didn't really put a lot of effort into their relationships and friendships. People's lives were disposable in the 8th century Europe: that's why the historic TV show has seen so many characters come and go.

Vikings is a series with a lot of characters and some of them never cross paths. It would be interesting to see what kind of friendships certain characters would form with people they haven't met or they refuse to give a chance.

Yidu And Bjorn

bjorn and yidu on vikings

By the time he was involved with Yidu, Ragnar didn't really care much about exploration anymore. If he did, he would surely ask Yidu more questions about life in China. Besides Ragnar, Bjorn was the only passionate explorer, but he never interacted with the interesting captive from the east.

When it comes to women, Bjorn can be pretty shameless. He doesn't nurture friendships with them; he uses them and then moves on. Perhaps Yidu would intrigue him for longer than one pregnancy since she was an endlessly interesting person who got killed off way too fast.

Torvi And Helga

helga and torvi on the vikings

The actors who play Torvi and Helga are sisters in real life and many fans struggled to tell them apart in the show as well. The first few seasons of Vikings were seriously lacking in female friendships. It would be great to see what women with different backgrounds would bond over.

Helga didn't have any friends, so it's no wonder she went insane after the death of her little girl. If only she were friends with Torvi (or anybody else), she would still be alive. Helga is not the only female character that left many questions unanswered.

Rollo And Floki

Vikings Ragnar Rollo Floki Rites of Passage

Floki has always been team Ragnar, while Rollo was Ragnar's antagonistic brother. As it was established way back in the first episode of the Vikings, it's clear that Rollo doesn't particularly like Ragnar. Perhaps he would make great friends with the boat builder if it wasn't for Ragnar standing in the way.

Rollo and Floki couldn't be more different from each other. Rollo is intuitive and nimble, while Rollo is strong and explosive. Sometimes, opposites attract. Too bad Rollo was shipped to Frankia before these two gave each other a chance.

Aslaug And Lagertha

Vikings why Lagertha killed Aslaug

The wife and the other woman typically don't get along, so Lagertha and Aslaug didn't become friends. Lagertha was all about women empowerment, but her circle of friends never included Aslaug, the woman who took Ragnar away from her. The two might make good friends. After all, they had one important thing in common: they were both betrayed by Ragnar.

Aslaug was one of the least liked characters on the show. In her defense, she was constantly alone and underappreciated. If she were friends with Lagertha, her qualities might start shining through, though. That's what happens when a person feels like they belong somewhere.

Ivar And Athelstan

athelstan and ivar

If there is a man who could soften Ivar's heart a bit, it would have to be Athelstan. Ivar might be among the most hated characters on the show, but we have to give credit where credit is due: he appreciates intelligent and well-read individuals, even if he doesn't share their beliefs.

Athelstan managed to soften Ragnar's heart. If only he got a chance to do the same with his youngest son Ivar!

Astrid And Ragnar

vikings astrid

Astrid was a huge fan of Ragnar. Any chance she got, she would rave about Ragnar's sons. She had a romance with both Lagertha and Bjorn, possibly just because they were connected to the great Viking legend himself.

It would be interesting to see what kind of friendship would blossom between Ragnar and his die-hard fan. Would she even like his personality? If she did, Ragnar would find a truly loyal follower in her.

Gisla And Floki

gisla and floki vikings

Gisla and Floki are both deeply religious, but it just so happens that they believe in different gods. Floki's worst and best traits can be found in the Parisian princess as well: they are both stubborn, yet loyal. Not to mention they are both brave and willing to die for what they believe in.

Gisla and Floki would probably have some great philosophical conversations if Floki didn't hate Christians as much. Similarly, Gisla can't stand the savages from the north. If they met, they would realize that people from two different cultures have more in common than they initially thought.

Alfred And Ragnar

alfred and ragnar on the vikings

Ragnar would be over the moon if he got to meet Athelstan's illegitimate child turned King Alfred. The young man is just as thoughtful and smart as his father was. Athelstan and Ragnar had a special bond. It's a real shame that Ragnar isn't around anymore: perhaps he would love Alfred as his own child.

They met when Alfred was a little boy, but he couldn't really have any decent conversations with Ragnar back then. Ragnar would probably be delighted to find out that Ubbe became Alfred's ally. Would he still love Ivar as much if he found out he is waging war against his own people, though?

Siggy And King Ecbert

siggy and ecbert vikings

King Ecbert was one of the most beloved characters and he was the kind of a man who appreciated intelligent and resourceful women. He only got to meet Lagertha, but chances are he would like Siggy even better.

Siggy went from being the wife of the most powerful man in the community to being Aslaug's maid. If she were to meet King Ecbert, he would surely see that she would make for a great addition to the royal family. One of the things that make the least sense about Siggy is the writer's decision to kill her off without giving her a more memorable story arc.

Bishop Heahmund And Rollo

rolllo and bishop heahmund on the vikings

Just imagine the powerhouse duo that Bishop Heahmund and Rollo would make together. Both are tall, strong, and fearless. The enemy would have no chance if these two decided to stand side by side and become friends. This friendship would definitely deliver some epic fights that transcend even the ones that fans hold most dear to their hearts. They met briefly in season 5, but they were both too weary. The bishop blessed Rollo - but it would be much better if they were friends back in their glory days.

Rollo converted into Christianity, so Heahmund didn't reduce him to a heathen right away. As long as they wouldn't find out that they were both into Lagertha at some point, they would make great friends.
