History Channel's Vikings recently wrapped up after the show's 6th season, which means that now is finally the time to take a trip down memory lane and re-visit the most memorable scenes. There are several reasons why fans have certain moments stuck in their minds: the emotions that accompany specific events, the shock value of the Viking attacks, or the ingenuity of the main characters.

The Norsemen were brutal killers, but that doesn't mean they only had carnage on their minds. Often, they conveyed powerful emotions on screen and proved that there is more to their culture than pillaging. There were many outstanding and totally unique characters on Vikings, and those were the ones whose scenes burned in the memories of the fans.

When Björn Was Attacked By A Bear

Bjorn fights a bear in Vikings

In "Mercy", Björn left Kattegat to go on an adventure of his own. His journey out into the forest served as somewhat of an initiation. He wanted to prove to his father that he has what it takes to survive in the cold, harsh winter all on his own.

Björn ran into his namesake, a bear, and managed to kill him with an axe. While the scene was far from the show's finest fight scenes, it was one of the most unique and memorable ones.

When Judith Lost Her Ear

Judith's ears get sliced off in Vikings

The scene in "Born Again" in which Judith's ear was cut off is involuntarily living rent-free in the fans' heads. King Aelle's daughter was tortured because of adultery.

Her husband had no pity for her, while Ecbert put the stop to the madness by somehow convincing Aethelwulf that Judith's affair with Athelstan can barely be considered a sin since he was a man of God.

Floki's Battle Cry In Paris

Vikings in front of Paris

No fan could ever forget the Norsemen looking at Paris in the dark and Floki chanting: "Skeggǫld, Skálmǫld, Skildir ro Klofnir", a battle cry that was translated as: "Axe time, sword time, the shields are splintered!"

The rest of the Vikings joined in, which made for a truly glorious and ominous scene. It's one of the last times the OG Vikings were all together: Floki, Björn, Ragnar, Lagertha, and even Rollo.

When Björn Swooped In & Saved Lagertha's Life

Bjorn saves Lagertha's life in Vikings

After Lagertha killed Aslaug, Ragnar's young sons were out for revenge. They had Lagertha and her shield-maidens cornered, but nonetheless, she showed no fear.

Moments before all hell was about to break loose, Bjorn walked through the door and put a stop to the conflict. It's hard to say what moment from that scene was better: Ubbe telling Ivar to shut up or Bjorn saying "So you had your revenge," to his mother.

Ragnar Faking His Death In Paris

Ragnar wakes up after pretending to be dead in Paris Vikings

There's no denying that the battle of Paris was one of the best battles in the entire series. Ragnar faked his own death and was transported within the walls of the city in a coffin.

The funeral was already underway when Ragnar jumped out of the coffin and had the Franks open the city gates. The Seer's prophecy thus came true: "I can see that not the living but the dead will conquer Paris."

Ivar Screaming At His Enemies

A bloodied Ivar roars under the rain

No other Viking was as good at waging psychological war as Ivar. In "Homeland", he gave Saxons a real scare when he screamed at them, his face covered in blood. "Don't you know who I am? You can't kill me!" Nobody dared to move and finish him off, even though Ivar stood no chance against the many soldiers who surrounded him.

"I am Ivar the Boneless!", he yelled, over and over again. Soon enough, Ubbe and the rest of their men came to the rescue and the battle went on.

Ecbert & Ragnar First Meet

Ecbert first meets Ragnar in Vikings

Ecbert was the only ruler on Vikings who was as likable as Ragnar. They first met at the beginning of season 2. Ragnar was escorted to Ecbert's infamous bathhouse where Ecbert urged him to join him in the water. "Now we are equal," he said as the formidable Norseman lowered himself in the pool.

Ragnar looked perplexed, shy even. He explained to Ecbert that he's not after treasures, but is driven by curiosity. He is no ruler, either. He is just a farmer who wants to get to know the world.

Ragnar's Speech To Athelstan

Ragnar Buries Athelstan in Vikings

As soon as Athelstan died, Ragnar's life was in a downward spiral. Completely heartbroken, he said goodbye to his friend in one of the show's most emotional scenes. "You were a brave man, Athelstan. I always respected you for that. You taught me so much. You saw yourself as weak and conflicted, but to me, you were fearless because you dared to question."

Ragnar's speech ended on a somber note. He knew that he won't be joining him in heaven after he dies and that Athelstan is not waiting for him in Valhalla, either. "We will never meet again, my friend."

Jarl Borg's Blood Eagle

Jarl Borg death in VIkings

The long scene in which Ragnar performs the blood eagle on Jarl Borg was burned in the fans' memory for many reasons. The hypnotizing music, the wincing of the crowd, and Ragnar's fascinating precision.

It wasn't the only blood eagle on Vikings. King Aelle was blood-eagled too, but that scene fades in comparison to this one. Jarl Borg faced his gruesome death in the bravest way possible. He didn't let out a single cry, so there's no doubt he made it to Valhalla.

Lagertha's Funeral

Lagertha's funeral Vikings

Lagertha's death scene was not half as memorable as her funeral. Her send-off was glorious. After all, she was just as much of a main character as Ragnar or his sons.

The greatest shield-maiden was escorted to her beloved Ragnar by the Valkyries. "In my dreams, we are always together," were the last words she spoke.
