This is exactly what happened in 2011, when comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis introduced a new Spider-Man to the world: Miles Morales, a boy of black/Hispanic descent, newly gifted with arachnid abilities that empower him to carry on the legacy of his hero, the amazing Spider-Man.
