Superhero movies have come a long way from having bland costumes. However that doesn’t necessarily mean that the costumes featured in the movie are true to the original designs. Many of the characters in the MCU were originally created way back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, meaning that fashion choices that seemed fine at the time wouldn’t work now. How else would you explain some of these?
Instead of wearing her original bodysuit and ridiculous head piece, Scarlet Witch now wears a trench coat and corset combo. The Falcon is a member of S.H.I.E.L.D in the MCU, but you wouldn’t have known that if he wore his original green and orange costume. We certainly wish that the MCU Iron Fist wore ANY costume, but it would be killer if he wore his original yellow and green ensemble. Daredevil on the other hand can leave his original costume at home. The Guardians of the Galaxy would certainly look different if Gamora wore her original golden skull and fishnet stocking costume and Drax had a purple cape. While Captain Marvel’s movie has yet to come out, we’ve seen from the concept art that she certainly isn’t wearing her crop top outfit. It’s probably too late to hope for Thor to wear his original Jack Kirby outfit, but we can dream. If you wanted to see Black Panther with a cape, we got it here. The less said about Black Widow’s original outfit the better.
Some of these original Marvel looks are good and some are bad, but they definitely look different from their original designs.
