The world of video games is one that is consistently changing, with developers battling one another to get ahead and bring out the next big title that will get everybody talking.

In the coming months and years, there are plenty of exciting releases set to come - some of which has been in the works for quite some time.

Whether you play on PC, Macbook, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or a different platform entirely, there will be lots of options for you to spend your hard-earned cash on, and so we've taken a look at some set to drop before 2018 is out, as well as others that'll join the fray next year.

Some of those being released are continuations or extensions of titles that have already carved out a successful path in the world of gaming, while others are completely brand new and will have to work harder than others to ensure they stick in the minds of players.

There is plenty of opportunity to make an impact, but also a lot of space to fail and be consigned to to shelves across the globe, collecting dust and being found in bargain buckets just weeks after release.

Where our list of titles end up remains to be seen, but these are just some of the video games we're most excited about seeing come to fruition over the next year and a half.

With that said, here are the 15 Video Games Coming Out This Year (And 10 Coming In 2019).

This Year: World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth - PC (August 14)

Ever since its initial release all the way back in 2004, millions of players have jumped online to play the MMORPG World of Warcraft, enjoying a number of expansions in the following years.

The next is just a few days away from release, and is called Battle for Azeroth.

The Alliance and Horde's fragile coming together in previous years has been torn apart thanks to a major betrayal, and now they go up against one another all over again.

Which side will you pick when you jump into the action?

This Year: Yakuza Kiwami 2 - PS4 (August 28)

This may be a remake of the 2006 video game Yakuza 2, but it's still one that we can't wait to play.

Played from a third-person perspective, it's an action-adventure title packed full of twists and turns that keeps the audience on the edge of their gaming chairs from the opening moments, right through until the climactic final sequence.

It's going to be very interesting to see how the new story elements promised in the remake will clear up any confusing plot points that have confused gamers since 2006.

Next Year: Kingdom Hearts 3 – PS4, Xbox One, PC (January 29)

Kingdom Hearts 3 Goofy and Sora

Kingdom Hearts 3 has been a long time coming, so we hope the January 29, 2019 release date currently promised is one that sticks in place.

Exciting new worlds will be available in this new addition to the series, with fans now able to travel to the likes of Arendelle from Frozen and the Kingdom of Corona from Tangled.

While it's bound to be a lot of fun, there's a dark and intense story in play behind all of the color.

Is it one we'll see concluded, or is there more to come? Only time will tell.

This Year: Strange Brigade – PS4, Xbox One, PC (August 28)

This one looks better played with your friends or other gamers you find online, as the third-person shooter allows groups of up to four people to get together and take on mythological creatures with the backdrop of Egypt in the 1930s.

Each of the four playable characters have different talents and abilities, and so players will have to toggle between them to discover which best suits their style of play.

There will also be plenty of puzzles to engage with, ensuring that there are lots of hours of fun to be had.

This Year: Spider-Man – PS4 (September 7)

Spider-Man shoots webs in Spider-Man PS4

Spider-Man is finally slinging his way back onto PlayStation consoles this September in what looks to be the most compelling, charming, and challenging video game that the hero has fronted to-date.

A number of major villains from Marvel Comics will share the screen with the hero, including Mister Negative, Electro, Rhino, Mac Gargan, Vulture, and Shocker. A seventh is rumored, but their identity hasn't yet been revealed.

We can't wait to see what Insomniac has up their sleeves with this one.

Next Year: Anthem – PS4, Xbox One, PC (February 22)

Anthem Exosuit

Hopefully Anthem can succeed where many people think Destiny and Destiny 2 failed.

This multiplayer open-world action-RPG from BioWare looks to be one of the most stunning to have ever been released.

However, whether the gameplay will be able to live up to what has been touted so far is anybody's guess.

There will be different classes and roles for players to jump into, with each given priorities in battle, whether that be taking the bulk of the damage, or ensuring everybody's healed up.

This Year: Shadow of the Tomb Raider – PS4, Xbox One, PC (September 14)

Lara Croft With a Gun in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is back and looking mightier than ever before in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but she may be about to go up against her most challenging adversaries yet.

Boasting the largest hub the franchise has ever seen, players will once again guide Lara through a mysterious location packed full of puzzles, missions, and side quests, all while dodging enemies and their various forms of attack.

However, plays should remember to take time to explore the optional tombs, as they often provide some of the best moments in the game.

This Year: Spyro Reignited Trilogy – PS4, Xbox One (September 21)

Spyro the Dragon is back, hot on the heels of the success of the remastered Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

All three of the original Spyro games are making their return to consoles, and the hero has been given one of the best glow-ups in gaming history.

As far as we're aware, there won't be any new content when it comes to missions and story that we'll progress through, but we imagine the hit of nostalgia will be enough to bring millions back to the purple little fire-breather.

Next Year: Days Gone – PS4 (February 22)

Deacon outrunning a horde of zombies in Days Gone (2019)

Though it was originally set for release this year, developers pushed Days Gone back to 2019 to ensure that it would be the best game it could be.

There have been plenty of zombie games released throughout the years, but this one looks like it could be the most intense and terrifying one yet.

Forced to explore and survive in this post-apocalyptic world, players will have to forage for supplies, make allies, and fight against both zombies and the living if they're to make it to the end of the game alive.

This Year: Forza Horizon 4 – Xbox One, PC (October 2)

Playground Games have gone more in-depth than ever before in the fourth instalment to their Forza Horizon series, which will be coming to various locations across the United Kingdom this year.

There will be over 450 licensed cars available in the game, which will take place in a fully synchronized and shared world with other online players for the first time.

Up to 72 players will be able to join the same server at any one time.

Players will also be able to buy properties as well as cars, leading to one of the most immersive driving titles ever.

This Year: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – PS4, Xbox One, PC (October 5)

Kassandra holding a hawk in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

The Assassin's Creed series continues this year with the release of Odyssey, the first game in the franchise that allows you to decide whether to play as a male or female hero for the entirety of the narrative.

This time round, we're venturing to the year 431 BCE, with a fictional history of the Peloponnesian War planting the player right into the midst of ancient Greece.

Branching dialogue choices will be implemented into gameplay for the first time in an AC title, but exactly how much of an effect they'll have on the overall plot isn't something that is yet known.

Next Year: The Division 2 – PS4, Xbox One, PC (March 15)

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 follows on from the hugely successful first game in the series, and will this time take players to Washington D.C., where a civil war has broken out between survivors of the first game's virus breakout and rogue mercenaries.

Massive Entertainment have promised that more game content will be provided at launch than its predecessor, as well as a more satisfying endgame following complaints from some gamers who reached the end of the original.

Whether they'll be able to tick every box, however, is something we'll have to wait to find out.

This Year: Super Mario Party – Nintendo Switch (October 5)

mario party time

Super Mario Party is finally making its way to the Nintendo Switch - a platform that the game was pretty much made for.

This will be the eleventh instalment in the series, and while there have been some duds in Party's past, this has every opportunity to be one of the main reasons to pick up a Switch.

We can't wait to jump into the action, with mini-games likely to be some of the most intricate that the franchise has ever offered.

Next Year: Ori and the Will of the Wisps – Xbox One, PC (Spring)

Platformers have rarely been as charming as Ori and the Blind Forest, and that charm is something that Metroidvania will be hoping to replicate with their upcoming sequel.

Taking control of a white guardian spirit named Ori, players will make their way through some of the most gorgeous landscapes that Xbox and PC have ever played host to.

Developers look to be bringing in just enough new abilities and techniques to keep the game fresh, while maintaining the integrity of the original.

This Year: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – PS4, Xbox One, PC (October 12)

Call of Duty-Black Ops 4

We're sure Black Ops 4 will divide gamers just as much as every other entry in the Call of Duty franchise.

In the past, the Black Ops games have been some of the most addictive available. This looks to be no different from what we've seen of the upcoming addition, which will be featuring a Battle Royale mode for the first time in COD's history.

Classic modes such as Team Deathmatch will make a return, as well as the beloved Zombies mode that will have us all screaming at our televisions all over again.

Next Year: Metro Exodus – PS4, Xbox One, PC (Spring)

This first person shooter promises to have an incredible story that'll grip players from the moment they jump into the action.

From 4A Games, it's the third instalment in the Metro series, and is set in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the former Russian Federation.

Humans aren't the only threat on the battlefield, however, with mutated creatures also proving to be a challenge.

Players will have to get creative if they want to survive, crafting hand-made weaponry to take down adversaries.

This Year: Battlefield 5 – PS4, Xbox One, PC (October 19)

Following the huge success of Battlefield 1, EA DICE will continue their war-torn story and focus on World War II in Battlefield 5.

Developers have said that they've focused on bringing realism to the game this time round, with party-based features and mechanics, as well as scarcity of resources forcing gamers to work harder than ever.

There will also be a new Battle Royale mode that will no doubt have all of us tearing our hair out - the impact of PUBG and Fortnite.

Next Year: Devil May Cry 5 – Xbox One, PS4, PC (Spring)

When it comes to hack and slash titles, the Devil May Cry series is far and away the most memorable.

In this new instalment, both Dane and Nero will make their return as playable characters, as well as a mysterious third playable protagonist who hasn't yet been revealed.

Taking place several years after the fourth title, we imagine there will be a lot of unique and fresh content to tackle.

We also want to know why Nero has a new robotic hand. What happened?

This Year: Soulcalibur 6 – PS4, Xbox One, PC (October 19)

One of the leading fighting game franchises in the world is making its comeback, with both iconic classic characters and new faces jumping into the fray.

We can't really defend some of the artwork that we've seen so far, as it's a little gratuitous, but the Soul Calibur games have always been some of the most addictive in the world.

A new mechanic comes into battle this time round, which will allow players to defend against an oncoming attack while striking back immediately, with a slow-motion effect kicking into play.

Next Year: Skull & Bones – PS4, Xbox One, PC (TBC 2019)

Skull and Bones Naval Combat

We've played Sea of Thieves, and soon we'll have the opportunity to play another tactical open world pirate game from Ubisoft Singapore - Skull & Bones.

Whether you want to sail the Indian Ocean alone, or with a crew of up to five other people, this looks to be the ultimate pirate experience for anybody who has fancied themselves as a swashbuckler on the mighty seas.

The only downside is that micro-transactions have already been announced.

Expect controversy from players if they give those willing to pay a leg up over the competition...
