Hulu releases the Veronica Mars season 4 teaser trailer, introducing a new Spring Break murder mystery in Neptune - and Veronica's on the case. The Veronica Mars TV show originally premiered on UPN in 2004, with its first two seasons airing on the network. For season 3, Veronica Mars transitioned to The CW - which was created by merging UPN and The WB. However, The CW cancelled Veronica Mars following season 3, despite it garnering a strong fan base.

That fan base was so vocal, in fact, that in 2013 series creator Rob Thomas launched a Kickstarter project for a Veronica Mars movie. The Kickstarter was a massive success, and the Veronica Mars movie released in 2014. Since then, fans have wondered if there would ever be more Veronica Mars in the future, especially considering the TV revival and reboot trend of recent years. Considering the property retains its strong fan base even now, it came as little surprise when Hulu announced a Veronica Mars revival last summer, and now the trailer for the long-awaited season 4 is finally here.

Hulu released the Veronica Mars season 4 teaser trailer as part of their Upfronts presentation today. The video confirms what was previously reported, that the new Veronica Mars season will feature a Spring Break murder mystery, specifically a series of bombings meant to destroy Neptune, California's tourist economy. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is on the case, though, and she'll get help from her father Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni) and her old flame/current boyfriend(?) Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring). Watch the trailer below.

In addition to Veronica, Keith and Logan, the Hulu revival season will feature the return of Veronica Mars characters Wallace Fennel (Percy Daggs III), Eli "Weevil" Navarro (Francis Capra), Dick Casablancas (Ryan Hansen), Vinnie Van Lowe (Ken Marino), Leo D'Amato (Max Greenfield) and Cliff McCormack (Daran Norris). Joining the cast of Veronica Mars in the revival season are J.K. Simmons and Patton Oswalt among others. Both actors' characters can be seen in the trailer, adding some new faces to the fictional town of Neptune.

Based on the Veronica Mars season 4 trailer, the Hulu revival will return to what fans love about the series: a solid murder mystery and plenty of character drama. While there may be some who don't think a Veronica Mars revival is necessary, the series' fan base remains intact even more than 15 years after the show initially premiered. The series has undoubtedly had a strange path, switching networks during its original airing and having a movie spinoff only to be revived for streaming. But as long as there are fans of Veronica Mars, there's sure to be interest in keeping the series going. Hopefully season 4 will deliver another compelling installment in the franchise, and perhaps pave the way for even more seasons of Veronica Mars in the future.
