In a completely normal (for 2019) turn of events, Venom fans are taking issue with Ted Bundy stans for thirsting after a real-life monster in the wake of Netflix's Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes as well as the trailer for fiction film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Serial rapist and murderer Ted Bundy is back in the pop culture zeitgeist in a big way thanks to Netflix's docuseries and the trailer premiere of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which stars Zac Efron. Along with the resurgence of media around Bundy, some folks have bizarrely decided to discuss how hot the real-life monster is - despite the man being convicted of rape and murder and being executed in 1989 for his crimes.

One particular subset of the internet taking issue with people thirsting for Bundy is the self-named group of Venom fans called "Venom F-ckers" (who, like their name suggests, want to have sex with the symbiote alien). Sony's Venom movie debuted last year to mixed reviews, but proved to be a favorite among moviegoers, helping the film earn $855 million at the worldwide box office. Many fans in particular were drawn to the relationship between Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and the symbiote Venom, with the "Symbrock" 'ship taking the internet by storm. Sony even leaned into the Eddie and Venom relationship by releasing a rom-com style Venom trailer ahead of the film's home release. Now, in a plot twist no one saw coming, Venom fans are fighting people thirsting for Bundy online.

The Ted Bundy Tapes released Friday Jan. 25 on Netflix and the docuseries was the center of much discussion on social media sites since it debuted in conjunction with the Sundance premiere of Extremely Wicked. In one particular tweet, Twitter user yovremymission criticized "Ted Bundy f-ckers" for trying to compare themselves to Venom f-ckers. See the tweet below.

To explain this particular online discourse, yovremymission went on to say they'd seen folks on social media comparing Venom and Bundy because both are killers. However, as has been pointed out by others, Venom is a fictional character, whereas Bundy was a real person who raped and murdered at least 30 women. Still, there are apparently a great deal of people thirsting for the real-life serial killer. So many, in fact, that Netflix pleaded with Bundy fans to stop it.

Still, Venom fans getting into fights with Bundy stans online is a wild turn of events that few likely saw coming in 2019. The conflict between Venom f-ckers and Ted Bundy f-ckers has gotten so much traction online that even Marvel Comics' Venom writer Donny Cates has weighed in. See his response below.

Certainly, this particular internet feud is on the weird side, but Venom f-ckers have a point so far as the symbiote is a fictional character - and one that is portrayed in the movie as an anti-hero rather than a complete monster. Further, many fans have projected qualities and traits on Venom that aren't necessarily included in Ruben Fleisher's movie. For instance, a great deal of Venom movie Symbrock fan art features Eddie and Venom in a sweet, supportive (you could even say, symbiotic) relationship, depicting their day-to-day life. So even if the kind of relationship depicted in the cute fan art isn't necessarily canon, it does have a basis in both the Venom movie and comics.

That said, there is also more mature, explicit Venom f-cker fan art online. However, the character is still fictional, whereas Bundy was a real person who's now infamous for raping and murdering more than two dozen women. Though people may be talking about Bundy more due to The Ted Bundy Tapes and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, he's not someone folks should be thirsting over - and Venom fans won't let anyone forget it.
