Warning: Major SPOILERS ahead for Venom: Let There Be Carnage

After the Venom: Let There Be Carnage credits scene, we discuss whether Venom (Tom Hardy) will be in Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although Sony Pictures owns the film rights to Spider-Man and many other Marvel Comics characters, the current live-action iteration of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) was introduced and established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is under the purview of Marvel Studios. As such, when Sony launched their own Marvel universe franchise with Venom in 2018, there was a great deal of confusion over whether it took place in the MCU or another universe - especially since Sony called them "adjuncts" to the MCU Spider-Man movies.

Since then, the MCU has officially introduced the multiverse, with a number of movie and TV shows expected to explore the ramifications of it. One such film is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which released its first trailer that confirmed the return of Alfred Molina as Doc Ock - a character he previously played in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. With reports circulating that actors from both the Raimi trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies will be in No Way Home, there's been speculation Venom or other characters from Sony's Marvel movies could appear as well. And now the Let There Be Carnage post-credits scene has made it even more possible.

As revealed in the Venom: Let There Be Carnage credits scene, Venom is now in the MCU. The scene depicts Eddie alone in a room when a bright light appears and the room mysteriously transforms. When the light recedes he's in a completely different room and on the TV is J. Jonah Jameson's (J.K. Simmons) Daily Bugle report revealing the MCU's Peter Parker to be Spider-Man. This visually establishes that Venom is now in the same universe as Holland's Spider-Man and sets up Venom to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Coupled with a recently circulated photo of Hardy wearing a logo hat for the MCU movie, it does seem to be confirmed that Venom will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus and Spider Man in No Way Home

Based on the image of Hardy in a Spider-Man: No Way Home hat, which were likely given to those who worked on the movie, and the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post-credits scene, there's a fair amount of evidence that Venom will be in the Spidey movie. But how exactly he'll fit into the film remains to be seen. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer confirmed characters from other universes will be part of the movie's story, with Peter facing off against Doc Ock, but it's unclear if Venom could be another villain or an ally of sorts. Since there are a host of villains either confirmed or rumored to be in Spider-Man: No Way Home - including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx's Electro among others - Peter could no doubt use some help. Of course, there are also reports of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man, though the later has vehemently denied his involvement.

It's also possible that with so many characters already either rumored or confirmed for the film, Venom won't have a big role at all. He may instead appear in a cameo role, perhaps setting up a proper Spider-Man vs. Venom fight in a future movie. Considering how highly anticipated a meeting of Spider-Man and Venom is, especially after the lackluster reception of Raimi's Spider-Man 3, it might be best to save that conflict for a movie of its own. Still, with Venom now in the MCU and Spider-Man: No Way Home including characters from various universes, it seems almost certain Hardy will show up in the movie as his next appearance after Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
