Woody Harrelson has revealed that he was nervous while filming the post-credits scene for the first Venom film. Harrelson is a veteran actor who began his career with the hit TV show Cheers and later expanded into the world of film. He has starred in a number of high-profile projects throughout his career, from comedies, to drama, action and beyond. Some of his more notable films include Natural Born Killers, Indecent Proposal, The People vs. Larry Flynt, and The Hunger Games franchise, as well as HBO's hit series, True Detective.

Harrelson was cast as serial killer Cletus Kasady in 2018's Venom but only appeared in the post-credits sequence, which served to introduce the character. Venom revolves around Eddie Brock (played by Tom Hardy), a reporter who becomes attached to an alien symbiote called Venom, who must fight off an invasion of other, more dangerous symbiotes. Harrelson returns in an expanded role for the sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. He will once again play Kasady, as well as his own symbiote alter ego, known simply as Carnage.

While Kasady's introduction in Venom was brief, Harrelson has revealed to Screen Rant that he was still quite nervous about the opportunity. The actor said that he believes his co-star Tom Hardy is one of "the great actors" and that the pressure of acting alongside him, as well as entering the world of Marvel, made him nervous. He also says that he didn't feel like he was free enough to be "more creative" in the short sequence. Read Harrelson's full quote below:

Exclusive: "I felt when I did the first one, I was a little bit ... I mean, I think of Tom Hardy as one of the great actors. I really do. I think this guy is such a phenomenal actor. And just being in the Marvel Universe, and I don't know, everything all put together, I was a little nervous when I did that first one. And so I wasn't free enough to be able to ... If you're too nervous, you go into an audition, people who audition and they go in, they're so nervous, they could've done a good job, but they were just so nervous. So I felt like I was a little ... I never even told Tom this. So anyway, I'm revealing it to you. But I was a little nervous, and I just didn't feel like I was free enough to be more creative."

Having a much larger role in the sequel, particularly as the main villain, should certainly give Harrelson more room for creative expression in the character. Hardy is returning as Eddie Brock/Venom, as is Michelle Williams, who also appeared in the first film. Naomie Harris joins the cast as another villainous symbiote known as Shriek. Let There Be Carnage is directed by actor and director Andy Serkis, who last helmed the dark adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, titled Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.

Harrelson has been an amazing presence in nearly everything he's done, regardless of genre. Versatile and engaging, the actor brings a lot to the table for the role of Cletus Kasady/Carnage, which he'll have more freedom to expand on in the sequel. Carnage is one of the more popular villains in the Marvel comics world, and with this being his big-screen debut, Harrelson feels like a perfect fit to welcome him there. Fans are hungry to see both Venom and Carnage go head-to-head, and with actors like Harrelson and Hardy doing the honors, audiences are no doubt in for a saliva-drenched treat.
