A new piece of fan art imagines what it might look like should Tom Hardy's Venom catch Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Although these versions of Venom and Spider-Man probably won't appear together in the Venom film, that hasn't stopped fans from imagining the two together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Venom, Hardy is Eddie Brock, a journalist who stumbles upon a story about the Life Foundation, an organization that has discovered alien lifeforms called Symbiotes. These aliens are amorphous and must bond with other lifeforms, usually humans, to survive. One of these Symbiotes bonds with Eddie, which creates the anti-hero Venom. The character of Venom first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #300. After that, Venom quickly became Spider-Man's archnemesis.

Many fans would like to see Holland's Spider-Man go up against Hardy's Venom in the future. Fan art by Bosslogic shows what that epic battle might look like.

Unfortunately, this fan art is mostly wishful thinking. Holland's Spider-Man reportedly will not appear in the Venom movie, nor will Venom appear in the next Spider-Man film. Venom is not part of the deal that Disney has with Sony that allows the two companies to share the character of Spider-Man and allows for the use of the webslinger in the MCU. This agreement leaves Venom out of the MCU, although he and Spider-Man have a long comic book history together. For the time being, Venom is a standalone movie, although no one has completely ruled out the character eventually becoming part of the MCU in the future.

Holland has mentioned that he would like to see his Spider-Man take on Hardy's Venom. The actor often lets information accidentally slip, so that admission leads many to believe that a Spider-Man cameo in Venom or a Venom cameo in the next Spider-Man movie is not entirely out of the question. Venom director Ruben Fleischer has also expressed interest in bringing the two characters together in the future.

A Spider-Man vs. Venom movie would undoubtedly please comic book fans. It could happen, given how Sony did eventually agree to share the Spider-Man character with Disney. Nothing is set in stone, though, so Venom fans will have to wait to see if an agreement between the two studios can bring Venom into the MCU. Perhaps if fans continue to show how much demand there is to see these film characters together, the two studios can come to a deal that can make that happen.
