Spoilers for Thor #27 by Marvel ComicsThe Prince in Black has officially been released against Venom in the Marvel Universe and is wasting no time crafting his own mighty weapon to rival Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. In Thor #27, Bedlam's symbiote spawn attacks Thor, Loki, and Lady Sif, leading Eddie Brock's Venom to intervene. However, upon learning more about Bedlam's child and how he was created, they see him forge his own twisted version of Mjolnir from Promethium metal.
Eddie Brock is currently Marvel's King in Black after defeating Knull and becoming the God of Symbiotes across the Marvel Universe. However, in the current Venom series from Marvel Comics, Eddie has discovered that future iterations of himself from across the timestream connected to the Hive Mind exist within the Garden of Time, where numerous King in Blacks of the future can be found. Six versions of the King in Black, including Eddie, have been revealed, with a seventh being teased in the most recent issue of Venom. However, one of the six, Bedlam, has a spawn rising as Marvel's new Prince in Black, and he's got his own version of Mjolnir.
In Thor #27 by Al Ewing, Donny Cates, Salvador Larroca, Edgar Delgado, and VC's Joe Sabino from Marvel Comics, Thor is visited by an old adversary after Loki opens up a portal in an attempt to fix the recently destroyed Bifrost. Darkoth the Death Demon, who was previously a soldier cybernetically enhanced by Doctor Doom using the demonic element Promethium, doesn't appear as he once did. Instead, he's being controlled by a symbiote. Venom arrives and tells Thor the symbiote is Bedlam's child who bonded with Darkoth in a previous fight, as the spawn has taken over his being. After Loki refers to the villain as the Prince in Black and as Thor tries to take him down, he uses his great power to create Mjolnir from his symbiote and Promethium.
The Symbiote & Cybernetically Enhanced Prince in Black May Be A Powerhouse
The Prince in Black's title from Loki makes sense since the symbiote controlling Darkoth the Death Demon is the spawn of an alternate version of Venom, the current King in Black. However, despite the Prince in Black not having a true name and its full powers being largely unknown, seeing it create a Promethium and symbiote-combined Mjolnir can't be good news for Venom, Thor, or the rest of the universe.
Thor's shock at seeing Bedlam's spawn forming its own twisted version of Mjolnir is likely the first of many surprises the newly dubbed Prince in Black will throw the hero's way. With the combined powers of Darkoth the Death Demon and the symbiote spawn of Bedlam, there's no telling what the villain's true abilities are. But readers will out what's next for Venom and the Prince of Black soon.
