Jeff the Land Shark Gets an Official Venom Form

JEFF THE LAND SHARK GETS VENOMIZED! From the awesome team behind the smash-hit IT’S JEFF! Infinity Comic, Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru put a symbiote spin on their iconic creation!

Hope this symbiote’s got a mitt and some bubble gum because it’s getting called up to the MAJOR LEAGUES in a story by Jordan Blum!

And New York City’s about to get STOMPED, as Cody Ziglar continues his tear through the symbiotic corner of the Marvel Multiverse with a story that’s LARGER THAN LIFE!

Jeff the Land Shark is a small, four-legged air-breathing shark created by Kelly Thompson and Daniele Di Nicuolo. The adorable character first appeared in 2019's West Coast Avengers #7. During this series, Jeffrey was adopted by Gwenpool, a then-member of the West Coast Avengers team. Gwenpool later left Jeff in Deadpool's care in Kelly Thompson and Chris Bachalo's Deadpool #1 to prevent the land shark from going without a home (since she didn't have a reliable solo comic.) Since then, Jeff the Land Shark launched his own title in It's Jeff!, a comedic online Infinity Comic following Jeffrey's misadventures from Thompson and artist Gurihiru. Now, Kelly Thompson is taking Jeff to the Venomverse, recently sharing Gurihiru's designs for his symbiote form to Twitter.

Extreme Venomverse Is Taking Some Big Swings

This isn't the first time Jeff has taken on a symbiote, however. In Kelly Thompson and Gerardo Sandoval's Deadpool #10, a King in Black event tie-in sees Jeff overtaken by one of Knull's Symbiote dragons. This led Deadpool, in an ingenuous turn, to chain his semi-aquatic sidekick next to a giant speaker, using its vibrations to free Jeff. Though Jeff has already taken on a symbiotic form, Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru's new story in Extreme Venomverse #5 will allow the character to finally become a true Venom - this time free to pursue his own goals, rather than serving Knull. This dangerous new form should create a fun new adventure for the Land Shark, showing readers a much deadlier (yet no less adorable) Jeff.

Allowing a character as fun and silly as Jeff to get on in the Venomized fun is a promising tease for Marvel's Summer of Symbiotes, and hopefully just a hint of the mayhem to come.

Extreme Venomverse #1 is coming May 10, with #5 following on July 19.
