This post contains SPOILERS for Venom #10

The future of Venom has been revealed, and it's just as horrifying as it is mind-blowing. While Eddie in Brock has recently become the King in Black, that's taken a backseat now that he's become trapped by time itself in the future. Having recently met symbiotes claiming to be subsequent Kings in Black, Eddie now knows the truth about the collection of cosmic rulers and Meridius, the symbiote in charge who's been trying to kill Eddie's son Dylan in the present.

At the beginning of Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch's Venom, Eddie Brock inadvertently disconnected his consciousness from space-time while his physical body was destroyed in the present. Unfortunately, this meant that Eddie also left his son Dylan alone in the present who's since become the new Venom. However, Dylan was recently stabbed by the monstrous symbiote named Bedlam, one of the Kings in Black working for the new villain Meridius. While Meridius had presented himself as a friend to Eddie when Brock's consciousness first landed in his realm known as the Garden of Time, Eddie now knows that the foe has been trying to kill both him and Dylan for some unknown reason.

However, things have become absolutely insane in the new Venom #10. After Bedlam's attack on Dylan, Eddie is transformed by his trauma into Finnegan, the pathetic gray King in Black whom Eddie briefly met in Venom #5 along with the other symbiotes. Now, Eddie as Finnegan is now reliving that same moment from behind Finnegan's eyes, seeing himself arriving at the Garden for the first time as he recently did. Combined with the past reveal that Bedlam is also Eddie, Meridius confirms that Bedlam is not an alternate Eddie Brock nor is he an alternate version from another reality. He's simply Eddie from a later point in the future, just like all the other symbiotes who are versions of Eddie he will soon evolve into while trapped in this terrible time loop.

Venom's Dark Future With Meridius

As confirmed by Meridius, Eddie keeps coming to the Garden in a vicious time-loop where each time he becomes these various versions in sequence, eventually becoming Meridius himself. However, despite the fact that the loop has been revealed, there are crucial parts that are still a mystery. For example, Meridius confirms that Eddie's path is multiplied by seven, though only 6 symbiotes have been revealed thus far. Whoever this seventh evolution of Eddie is, he will likely be the reason why Dylan's life is in danger as well as while the time loop exists in the first place.

At any rate, the fact that Eddie is trapped in a loop of transformations that eventually leads to him wanting to kill his own son is truly horrifying. Hopefully, the original Venom's way out of this seemingly inescapable time prison will be revealed in the issues to come. Venom #10 is on sale now.
