The monster they call Carnage is back in full force in Marvel's Universe, leading an entire army of symbiote monsters in the Absolute Carnage event. And despite how many times he may suggest that Carnage really is going to win, Eddie Brock has been unable to stop fighting. But that may all be about to change... thanks to Eddie's son, Dylan Brock.
Most casual fans would expect Venom to play a physical role, as the one symbiote soldier typically strong enough (thanks in equal part to the symbiote, and the man inside it) to match the power of Cletus Kasady. Unfortunately, this is a whole new version of Carnage, and it's one Eddie Brock has known he can't beat from the very beginning. And finally in Marvel's official preview for Venom #19, it seems Eddie may realize that being a father is more important to him than playing the hero. And that is BAD news for everyone else.
It would make sense for Eddie Brock's perspective to change, given how the event has played out thus far. After failing to protect Miles Morales, Eddie got distracted saving the life of another victim of Carnage's forces, only to turn in time to see Spider-Man himself Carnage-ized. That failure hit Eddie hard, and he let it be known to Peter Parker (fortunately Miles overpowered the Carnage symbiote, so at least that life won't be on Eddie's conscience, no matter how the rest of this nightmare unfolds). Yet the vision still sticks in Eddie's memory, as the following preview pages show.
So having watched as one helpless boy is consumed by the madness of Carnage and the Symbiote God Knull, the fact that Dylan stands in danger is going to weigh heavier and heavier by the second. Will Eddie be forced to make a tactical retreat for the sake of his son? We'll let fans read the preview and make some predictions for themselves.
