Warning! This article contains spoilers for Venom #32.

Venom has doomed the Earth by choosing to spare his son Dylan and allowing Carnage to free the King in Black. The end is nigh. Knull walks the Earth with his army of symbiotes consuming and manipulating every being on the planet. Every lifeform in the world is now a potential host for the ones who serve the Lord of the Abyss. The God of Symbiotes' troops decimated Earth's first line of defense almost instantly. Some of the most powerful Avengers fell to the brute force and sheer strength of the Grendel dragons. It wasn't long until Venom bit the dust himself. But he learned a hard truth: not even the afterlife was safe from the King in Black's influence.

Venom and his comrades were no match for the King in Black. Doctor Strange, many members of the X-Men, and even Captain America succumbed to the new symbiote world order. Nothing could prepare Marvel's heroes for the void incarnate. Knull's darkness is a plague. It has spread across the galaxy as the first symbiote-wielder continued his galactic campaign to find Eddie Brock and his son Dylan. There was no way Eddie would escape his ancestor.

Eddie's apparent death following King in Black #1 gave readers a foothold into a dark and twisted version of the underworld. After his fall, Spider-Man found his former rival and whisked him away in a harness fashioned of webbing. Eddie's final words before he flatlined on an operating table in the presence of Mr. Fantastic and others were a plea to Peter. He asked him to take care of his son Dylan. But the afterlife would offer Eddie no solace. In Venom #32 by Donny Cates and Iban Coello, Brock learns that even in death there is no escaping Knull. This issue reveals that there is no parting with a connection to the symbiote hive because of its intense hold on the physiology of its hosts. Once Knull sinks his claws into someone there is no going back.

This adds yet another layer to Donny Cates' symbiote mythos. Venom #32 has given readers their first glimpse of the symbiote hive. It is an intricate network of different hosts and structures. The hive is a world in itself and seems to be the final resting place for all who have the misfortune of bonding to a symbiote. Similar to most Venom arcs, Venom refuses to die (even after he is already dead). He meets veteran symbiote host Rex Strickland and Agent Venom in the hive, and together they are determined to get Eddie's symbiote back and fight Knull. The battle of the symbiotes will soon be underway.

Eddie Brock is one of the most unrelenting characters in Marvel Comics. Even in death and without his other, he refuses to give up on a chance to protect his son Dylan. Eddie may have been to one that led Knull to Earth but he will not rest until he has put an end to the living nightmare that is the King in Black. The terrible truth about The King in Black is that there is no escaping him. Readers will soon get to see how Earth's most experienced symbiote users match up against the progenitor of their companions. Can Marvel's Venom cheat death yet again?
