So far, Tom Hardy's Venom hasn't shown much of a threat to the MCU's Spider-Man, with the two having not even met - but that all changes after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Viewers have imagined how the fight would go between these two iconic characters, and while it's taken a while to set-up, the face-off is now closer than ever. After Venom's brief interactions with the MCU in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and No Way Home, it is clear that Venom is preparing to take down Spider-Man.

The first Venom movie kicked off Sony's confusing Spider-Man cinematic universe in 2018, and since the franchise's inception, the direction that it is headed has kind of been up in the air. It has never been clear exactly where the universe takes place, as there has never been evidence of a Spider-Man existing in these films. All that's really known is that it is not part of the MCU, as Tom Hardy's Venom leaves his universe and travels to the MCU at the end of Let There Be Carnage. Since there was no mention of Spider-Man until then, viewers have wondered if Venom would ever get to battle his arch-nemesis. However, now that Venom definitively knows who Spider-Man is, their grand face-off is finally being set up.

The main reason that Venom can take down Spider-Man has to do with his immense strength and brutality. Venom isn't afraid to hurt people, giving him a major leg up on the kindhearted Peter Parker. The symbiote villains Venom has fought also far outweigh Peter Parker's enemies. While Venom has taken down extra-terrestrial forces of nature like Carnage and Riot, Spider-Man has largely worked in teams when facing off against tougher villains, with his solo victories in his own movies seeing him defeat Vulture and Mysterio - two regular humans aided by technology. On top of all this, Venom also has one power that makes him nearly unstoppable - his connection to every universe. Combine this with Spider-Man: No Way Home establishing a reason that Venom would want to fight Holland's Spider-Man, and a recipe for conflict between the two in a later MCU installment becomes clear.

How Sony's Venom Is Connected To Every Spider-Man Series

An interesting Venom power revealed later into the symbiote's existence is his connection with every other symbiote. As it turns out, symbiotes are a hive mind, allowing them to know and experience what every other member of their species knows and experiences. It's suggested this hive mind is how Venom recognizes Spider-Man at the end of Let There Be Carnage. It is possible that this Venom remembered that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man killed Topher Grace's Venom in Spider-Man 3, and although he recognizes a different version of Spider-Man, Tom Hardy's Venom could be enraged at any version of the arachnid hero. Since versions of Venom are linked across every Spider-Man movie, TV show, comic series, and more, the vengeful Venom leaving a piece of himself in the MCU could present danger for Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

While Eddie Brock may have no bad blood with Peter Parker, this would definitely leave Venom out to get revenge on Spider-Man. Venom isn't in the MCU anymore, but No Way Home's post-credits scene does tease that some of the symbiote was left behind, meaning it is perhaps inevitable that Peter Parker will come into contact with it. It isn't certain when Venom and Spider-Man will fight, but Spider-Man: No Way Home makes one thing certain: Venom will eventually take him down.
