New set photos from Venom 2 show Eddie Brock being rescued by another symbiote. After years of waiting to see a Venom solo movie, fans finally got their wish in 2018 when Venom was released, starring Tom Hardy as the titular character. The film got mixed to negative reviews, but Venom was a smash hit at the box office. With the film being a success, Sony quickly geared up to start production on the sequel.

Venom 2 began filming late last year, and while no official marketing material has been released for the film just yet, fans have gotten a few looks at the film through leaked set photos. So far, the main focus has been on Woody Harrelson's character, Carnage, as fans are highly anticipating seeing the character on the big screen. Much to fans delight, some of the first set photos from Venom 2 showed Cletus Kasady with a fresh hair cut, getting rid of the off-putting wig the character wore in the first film. Others show Hardy and Harrelson together on set, and now new photos have come out of some of the special effects work.

While set photos from Venom 2 have mainly been focused on Hardy and Harrelson, Sony has also teased a connection to the MCU. The first trailer for Morbius seemingly confirmed that Sony's Spider-Man villain universe takes place in the MCU, with graffiti of Spider-Man in one shot, and Michael Keaton's Vulture appearing in another. An Instagram that Sony set up to promote Spider-Man: Far From Home even shows a newspaper headline that mentions. "Killer Kasady On The Run!", which seemingly links the MCU to Venom 2. There's also been tons of speculation on whether Tom Holland's Spider-Man could appear in Venom 2 based on these clues, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Four symbiotes were teased in Venom, but Venom and Riot were really the only two to be seen in all their glory. With Riot dying at the end of Venom, it certainly looks like a new symbiote will be introduced in the sequel. Carnage and Venom will no doubt be going head to head, which means Carnage likely isn't the symbiote rescuing Brock in the set photos. It's too early in the film's production to be for sure on anything, but more will become clear once Sony releases official photos and a teaser for Venom 2.
