The Irishman actor Stephen Graham has been cast in Venom 2. The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, and neither does Sony’s Spider-Man villain universe. Their series was kicked off with Venom in 2018, and despite the film getting mixed reviews at the box office, Venom broke box office records meaning a sequel was inevitable.

Venom 2 was officially announced earlier this year, and the film already has had a lot of casting announcements. Unsurprisingly, Tom Hardy is returning as Eddie Brock, as is Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. A Symbiote called Riot (played by Riz Ahmed) was the main villain of the first Venom, but Woody Harrelson will star in the sequel as Cletus Kassady (a.k.a Carnage). There are also reports that Naomie Harris will be playing the villain Shriek; however, that hasn't been officially confirmed just yet.

The cast of Venom 2 continues to grow as Graham has now been confirmed to have a part in the film according to Deadline. Graham is most known for playing Al Capone in HBO's Boardwalk Empireand he most recently appeared in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman as Anthony 'Tony Pro' Provenzano. As of right now, it's unconfirmed who Graham will be playing in Venom 2.

While Venom 2 looks to be introducing several new characters, there's also a chance that Spider-Man could show up in some capacity. After Sony and Marvel broke off their deal to have Spider-Man in the MCU (and then rekindled the partnership), Sony revealed that they had plans to include Spider-Man in their Venom universe. It's unknown whether the web-slinger will show up as early as Venom 2, especially since Spider-Man will appear in two more MCU movies.

Given Sony's access to several Spider-Man characters, it's anybody's guess as to who Graham could be playing. Regardless of who he's playing, Sony will no doubt benefit from having Graham in Venom 2. Graham has proven his acting ability through films like SnatchPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Talesand Tinker Tailor Soldier SpyIf Graham's role remains a mystery up until the film's release, it's possible he will be playing a popular character from the Marvel comics. However, it's also possible that his role will be revealed once production wraps or whenever the first trailer for Venom 2 drops. For now, fans will have to hang tight and await more news from Sony.
