The much-anticipated Venom 2 recently released its first trailer and fans are already eager to see what new symbiotes will be making their way into Sony's Marvelverse. Thus far, Venom introduced audiences to the titular character, alongside She-Venom and Riot. While other symbiotes like Scream were present, they were not fleshed out or used in the same way as the comics.
Venom 2 has already confirmed to include Shriek and Carnage as two of the main antagonists, and viewers will of course see more symbiote action from Venom himself. As this universe continues to evolve, though, there's a number of other alien characters who may also be making their live-action, big screen debut.
Mania/Maniac
It's not that common to see any symbiote be "wholesome" or heroic, but Mania defies expectations. The Flash Thompson iteration of Venom was friends with a woman called Andrea Bento, to whom he gave a segment of the symbiote in order to protect her.
While at first she used it to get revenge on those that sought to harm her and her family, she would later use it to fight crime as Mania. Interestingly, down the road she would also become Scream. Lee Price would later steal the symbiote from her, becoming the villain Maniac.
Void Knight
One of Knull's greatest creations is that of the Void Knight. The character is by far one of the most powerful beings within this alien race in the history of Marvel Comics and a significant threat to Venom.
The key mission of the Knight was to destroy all of the life and light within the known universe. He was specifically created to pose a threat to the Silver Surfer, therefore matching some of his cosmic abilities and overpowering him in many ways. Such a space-based threat might not fit into this production of Venom, though.
Big Mother
Speaking of Knull's creations, alongside his symbiote dragons he also forged the beast known as the Big Mother. She traveled across the galaxy for hundreds of years and has been a part of Earth's history as a weapon of great destruction.
She has served Knull's mission to the greatest of her abilities and has come to lead a number of other dragons, thus her name as the Mother. One way Let There Be Carnage can improve on the first film is perhaps by bringing in an ancient character like this to tease the future of the symbiote race and their role in the universe.
Toxin
One of the things that the initial film arguably got wrong is that it didn't accurately adapt some of the lesser-known symbiotes. Supposedly, Toxin is one of the early characters in the movie, although it's easy to ret-con this considering it's barely featured.
In the comics, Toxin is an antihero in his own right and is perhaps one of the most powerful symbiotes, feared by even Knull. The character was actually created from Carnage, meaning its presence would certainly work within Venom 2.
Scorn
Scorn is a fascinating creation, taken in part from Carnage and combined with other biological and technological elements; there's no other symbiote quite like this one. In fact, she is the only symbiote that can also interact with and take over computers and other mechanical and technological devices.
The character could easily have a part to play in Venom 2 therefore and visually her design is entirely one of a kind, utilizing the rarely seen purple colors. Tanis Nieves was the original host, although Shriek would later take this power away from her.
Scorpion
Mac Gargan has previously bonded with the Venom symbiote and has actually masqueraded as Spider-Man on the Dark Avengers, under Norman Osborn's guidance. The character has also been Scorpion in the Marvel Universe and indeed been portrayed on-screen previously.
The combination of the previous symbiote within Gargan and a new variant created this symbiote Scorpion, which was just as deadly as it looked. Morphing Gargan's mind, it was pretty sadistic and combined some of the greatest abilities from the two iterations of the supervillain.
Symbiote Spider-Man
Venom is often compared to being a 2000s-esque superhero movie and coincidentally both Venom and symbiote Spider-Man were put to screen during that era. However, the recent iteration of the character has yet to be faced with the black suit.
It would be fascinating to see these worlds cross over and have a symbiote Spider-Man finally enter the picture. Of course, it doesn't need to be Tom Holland's iteration of the character, as even Mac Gargan has taken on the role in the past.
Anti-Venom
Anti-Venom is an alternate version of Eddie Brock, created from the remnants of original Venom and some of Mister Negative's powers. Brock has complete control over Anti-Venom and the character has demonstrated impressive healing abilities.
Another iteration of the character also bonded with Flash Thompson. Usually, it's seen as a heroic figure and it would be interesting to see Brock pass Venom onto a different character and become Anti-Venom in his own right in the cinematic re-telling of this universe.
Agent Venom
Flash Thompson has also become both Agent Venom and Agent Anti-Venom, two antiheroes that could completely change the dynamics in this superhero universe. The military-based characters combine the strengths of both man and symbiote.
The character has become irreplaceable in the Marvel Universe, joining the likes of the Thunderbolts and the Secret Avengers over the years. It wouldn't be out of the question for Brock to pick up the Agent Venom title as the next stage of his career.
Knull
There are a number of similarities between Venom and Carnage but the biggest is the fact that they both stem from the god known as Knull. This creature of darkness is one of the most powerful entities in all of reality and existed before the creation of the universe itself.
While the current King in Black storyline demonstrates just how lethal Knull really is, the character may be the key to explaining the origins of the symbiotes in this Sony-verse as well. Perhaps the god is the best-placed villain for a third installment to the franchise.
