Warning: Contains spoilers for Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Knull could come to the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon thanks to Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Sony's second film in their shared Spider-Man universe largely stands on its own to tell a story about Venom and Carnage fighting. However, that changed in a major way with its post-credits scene and connection to the multiverse. It is through this moment that the MCU could now have a seed planted to bring Knull to live-action after Venom 2.

The connection between Venom and the MCU came at the very end of the sequel. Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene showed Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) changing universes and seeing Tom Holland's Spider-Man on the TV. It is thanks to this moment that Venom's future now appears to be tied to the MCU in some fashion. Sony and Marvel Studios have yet to reveal how this will factor into the future of the shared universe, although it is widely believed to be tied to Spider-Man: No Way Home's multiverse plot. In any case, Venom being part of the MCU opens up the door for several different possibilities, including the introduction of Knull.

During the last few years of Knull's presence in Marvel Comics, it has been revealed that he has a strong connection to Venom. This is because Knull is the one responsible for creating symbiotes, including the Klyntar alien race that Venom belongs to. Now that Venom exists in the MCU, a similar connection can be made canon. While Marvel Studios may have found other ways to incorporate Knull in the future, Venom: Let There Be Carnage's ending and the tease of a symbiote hivemind could all be part of the plan to bring the King in Black into the MCU. This could happen because Knull becomes aware of Venom's presence in the MCU and manages to escape the Abyss to find a new symbiote presence in this universe.

If the MCU wants to introduce Knull after Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it could do so in several other ways as well. Phase 4 has multiple properties that can build on this tease and make symbiotes and Knull's backstory a greater legacy in this universe. One example of this could come in Thor: Love and Thunder, as the film's villain Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) wields a powerful Necrosword that Knull created in the comics. Meanwhile, Knull's MCU introduction could come after a tease that he's the one who decapitated the Celestial whose floating head became Knowhere.

When it comes to figuring out when Knull will join the MCU, that is much more unclear. The seeds for his introduction are only just starting to be planted, so the plan for him might only just now be shaping behind-the-scenes. Marvel and Sony's relationship adds another complication to his future as well. Knull's best future is as a villain in a Spider-Man and Venom-centric storyline, but it isn't clear if Venom's MCU status is permanent or a short-term solution to help bring Tom Holland's Spider-Man to Sony's universe. That means Knull's future could be as the villain in Venom: Let There Be Carnage's sequel, a future Avengers movie, or something else entirely.
