Shriek is after Venom in a new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The sequel to Venom is headed to theaters this October, once again bringing back Tom Hardy to the role of Eddie Brock/Venom, as well as his co-star Michelle Williams. Also joining the cast is Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady/Carnage and Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek. The film is directed by Andy Serkis and written by Hardy and screenwriter Kelly Marcel.

Shriek was created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Lim in 1993 and featured heavily in the "Maximum Carnage" storyline, which saw her freed from the Ravencroft Institute and teaming up with Carnage, who she has a romantic interest in. The character has popped up in numerous animated incarnations, as well as Spider-Man video games, but this is her first live-action appearance. Shriek's powers revolve around the manipulation of sound, which she can use to destroy or disorient her rivals.

In a new trailer spot via MovieTrailers Entertainment for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the focus shifts to Shriek, as played by Naomie Harris, showing off more of her abilities, as well as her pursuit of Eddie Brock/Venom. Set to "Amazing Grace," the spot teases more snippets of an obvious escape from Ravencroft, as well as Shriek seemingly on the run and on a mission to find someone with her intentions looking less than friendly. The spot also reveals a rooftop sequence with Carnage having Michelle Williams' Anne in his clutches, which is sure to set off a showdown with Venom. Check out the spot below:

Harris' most recent role is that of Eve Moneypenny in the latest Bond outing, No Time To Die. Harris is best known for her role in Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, as well as prominent roles in films like Miami Vice, Ninja Assassin, and Moonlight. She previously worked with director Andy Serkis for his adaptation of "The Jungle Book," Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, voicing the character of Nisha.

As in the last Venom film, introducing symbiote villains seems par for the course with this series. Riz Ahmed played Riot in the previous film and bringing both Carnage and Shriek in for the sequel is the smartest move for the story to progress. Carnage has long been a fan-favorite character and will no doubt serve the studio well when box office receipts come in. Shriek is one of many symbiote characters that fit into this corner of the Spider-Verse and if a third film is warranted there's infinite possibilities to introduce them, be it Anti-Venom, Mania, Toxin, Scorn, or even the latest incarnations, Red Goblin and Knull, who is the god-like creature that created the symbiotes. Fans will soon find out where the franchise is headed when Venom: Let There Be Carnage releases on October 1st, 2021.
