Host of Love is BlindVanessa Lachey has defended her awkward response about denying ever getting Jessica Simpson a gift. Vanessa was adamant that she never sent a baby gift to Simpson and does not even have her address.

Recently, Jessica Simpson thanked ex-husband Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Lachey for sending her a gift after the birth of a child. However, in an awkward interview with Hoda Kotb on the Today Show, the couple denies ever sending one to her. While Simpson is doing her press tour for her new memoir, ex-husband, Nick and his wife Vanessa are making a press stop of their own for the reality TV show they're hosting, Love is Blind.

It would seem that honesty was not the best policy for Vanessa as she has been bombarded by hate mail after her morning show interview with her husband Nick. During Monday’s episode, the reality TV show host appeared confused as she tried addressing the elephant in the room. Vanessa’s reaction to not sending Simpson a gift was not tolerated by fans as they called her classless and petty. Kotb was in the middle of telling both Nick and Vanessa that Simpson was happy for them and revealed that Simpson remembered that "They sent me something beautiful" to which Vanessa quickly reacted with a strong no.

Vanessa took to Twitter (via Too Fab) to defend herself against the haters by saying that she felt uncomfortable to accept credit for something she did not do. She addressed the interview by saying she was just telling the truth as she wanted to make sure she was being truthful with the viewers. Fans also attacked Kotb for not doing her research and in the end misleading both her guests and morning viewers. Most fans felt as if the awkward station was avoidable with one fan tweeting "I feel like that was 10000% not necessary." After battling numerous trolls, Vanessa eventually gave in asking them should she have pretended to give the gift on national television saying, "Can we get a do over?"

Hopefully, the heat will die down soon enough so Nick and Vanessa can resume a semi-normal day to day life. As of right now, the pair continue to speak on their press tour for their new reality TV show Love is Blind, which will be premiering later this month on Netflix.
