Mom-to-be Scheana Shay is enjoying her babymoon in Hawaii as she looks forward to the birth of her daughter. However, some fans called out the Vanderpump Rules star for what they considered to be an irresponsible non-essential trip during the pandemic.

In fall 2020, the 35-year-old reality star announced the good news that she is expecting a baby. The father of Shay's baby is her boyfriend, Brock Davies, an Australian personal trainer and former rugby player whom she started dating in fall 2019. This is the couple's first child together. Davies has two children from a previous relationship who live in Australia.

Shay shared her plans to travel to Hawaii for a babymoon with her fans on social media. But while some fans supported her plans and eagerly awaited the vlog of her trip, others thought that it was irresponsible and unsafe for Shay to be taking a non-essential vacation when the risk of contracting COVID-19 is so high. While Shay acknowledged the danger the pandemic poses to her as a pregnant woman, she reassured fans that she had gotten tested before the flight and said she felt safe because she was flying in first class. Shay also argued that the threat of the coronavirus would never truly go away, so she could justify flying for the first time in almost a year. "When is covid gonna go away? It's not," Shay wrote on Twitter. Since landing in Hawaii, Shay has kept fans updated with Instagram stories and photos from her time in Oahu. Take a look at one of her recent posts below:

However, some fans believed Shay deserved a vacation as long as she took all of the necessary safety precautions. Shay has had a difficult journey as she pursued her goal of becoming a mother. Before she began dating her current boyfriend, Brock Davies, Shay went through the invasive process of having her eggs frozen. After becoming pregnant in early 2020, she, unfortunately, suffered a miscarriage over the summer. Now pregnant with her rainbow baby, she has dealt with gestational diabetes.

Shay's daughter is not the only Vanderpump Rules baby expected in 2021. Co-star Lala Kent, who had a public falling out with Shay last year, is also expecting a daughter with her producer fiancé Randall Emmett. Kent garnered similar controversy for vacationing with Sylvester Stallone during the pandemic. Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor, who were fired from the show in late 2020, are expecting a baby boy. Former Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder, who was also fired by Bravo for racist actions and statements, recently welcomed her daughter Hartford with husband Beau Clark.
