Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney understands why Lala Kent is done with Tom Schwartz. Katie and Tom are getting a divorce, which they announced on Instagram last month. The reality TV co-stars were together for 12 years and married for six. Documents revealed that the former couple initially separated back in February.
Like her pal Katie, Lala is also navigating the aftermath of a major split. The Utah native called off her engagement to Randall Emmett, the father of her daughter Ocean, last fall. Since then, the Give Them Lala author has made no secret of her desire to completely remove Randall from her life. Lala emphasized this includes people who continue to hang out with the producer. In a recent interview, Lala revealed she stopped talking to Tom Schwartz for still being friends with Randall. Now, Katie is explaining why she understands the anger towards her estranged husband.
Katie talked about Lala and Tom's feud in an interview with E! News on Sunday. When asked about Lala's decision to stop speaking to him, Katie remarked that she "understands it fully." The podcast host added that Lala cutting people off who did her wrong is "kind of like her M.O. and I can't fault her for that." Katie continued, "She feels strongly about Randall and how things have gone down and the person that he is, and how she doesn't want him in her life, and I can't fault her for that." Since the dramatic split, Lala has accused Randall of cheating, living a double life, and being a narcissist. She has previously slammed other co-stars, like Schwartz's BFF Tom Sandoval, for supporting Randall over her. Referencing this, Katie emphasized, "She's made it abundantly clear to all of us and she said it explicitly." Regarding her estranged husband ignoring this to hang out with the producer, she added, "So for anyone to kind of take that and go back and decide to continue a friendship or relationship knowing...it is what it is."
While Lala has cut ties with Schwartz, Katie and her estranged husband still share the same circle of friends. This includes Ariana Madix, the longtime girlfriend of Tom Sandoval. Katie and Ariana are trying to open a sandwich shop, which Randall was supposedly going to invest in before he and Lala split. Elsewhere in the interview, Katie said the business venture has only strengthened her and Ariana's friendship.
Unlike Lala and Randall, Katie and Tom plan to be friends and remain in each other's lives. The two are still living together while they prepare to sell their house. Katie and Tom have also been spotted together since the divorce announcement, going out to lunch and attending the same events. Meanwhile, Lala emphatically denied even having a mildly friendly interaction with Randall at a Super Bowl party.
Between Lala burning bridges, Katie and Tom's divorce, and the breakup of James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss, a lot of off-camera drama is happening amidst the Bravo stars. Katie has never been single in her years on the long-running show, and neither has Raquel. Because of these drastic changes, fans are hoping the show isn't cancelled. However, there is still no word on whether or not Vanderpump Rules season 10 is happening. The previous seasons are available to stream on Peacock.
