Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodhunt finally has a release date; it will be launching on PC and PlayStation 5 on April 27. Bloodhunt is an upcoming free-to-play battle royale set in the world of the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG, where vampires secretly live among humans and fiercely guard the secret of their existence.

In Bloodhunt, two teams of vampires battle on the streets of Prague. The player selects a character archetype based on their vampire clan. Each Bloodhunt Clan has different supernatural abilities, such as invisibility or super speed. All of the vampires possess the ability to scale walls and leap like Spider-Man, adding a lot of verticality to the game. As the battle progresses, a mysterious red mist that harms vampires starts to encircle Prague, pushing the players closer together. There is also a PvE element, as members of the vampire-hunting Second Inquisition patrol the map and will shoot on sight, but they guard amazing gear that can be stolen. Prague is home to mortals who are unaware of the conflict raging around them, and using vampiric powers around them will cause the player's position to be revealed for a short period of time.

There were several Vampire: The Masquerade games delayed in 2021, with the highly-anticipated Bloodlines 2 seemingly in development purgatory. 2022 will see two Vampire: The Masquerade games launch in quick succession, as Bloodhunt in April will be followed by Vampire: the Masquerade - Swansong on May 19Swansong is a game with a heavy focus on character choices and storytelling. The two games couldn't be more different in terms of gameplay and style, and they represent their own aspects of the franchise, with Bloodhunt focusing on the supernatural action and Swansong on the deep roleplaying and narrative elements.

Bloodhunt has grown a considerable amount during its Early Access periods, with the weapons and Clan abilities being tweaked, the map growing in scope to cover more of Prague, and the addition of a new archetype, with the brutal Clan Ventrue Enforcer being introduced into the game. The pre-alpha test for Bloodhunt recevied a positive response from critics and fans alike, and it will be interesting to see how the game has improved at launch.
