It took a long time, but Klaus finally became someone who was worthy of Caroline's love. They reunite during the final season of The Originalsand it became obvious that whatever was between them had intensified. Klaus had commented on Caroline's beauty before, but it came as a surprise that he had taken a particular interest in her. His motives were questionable, but Klaus did feed Caroline his blood and heal her. The most surprising moment came when Caroline found a bracelet that Klaus left her for her birthday.

Klaus admits that he fancies her, and he says the fan-favorite Klaroline quote, "You're beautiful, you're strong, you're full of light. I enjoy you." Caroline appears to be warming up to Klaus, but it doesn't stop her from telling him off. Very few people can yell at Klaus and live to tell the tale, but Caroline receives a drawing of her in the mail and a note from Klaus thanking her for her honesty.

Caroline might not have wanted to go on a date with Klaus, but it becomes clear throughout the day that she enjoys being around him. They have meaningful conversations, and Caroline realizes that there's more to Klaus than meets the eye.

In an adorable scene, Klaus reveals that he got his hands on Caroline's Miss Mystic Falls application and teases her for her cheesy answers. It was shocking to see Caroline giggling while she and the most lethal vampire in history played a game of keep-away.

It didn't take a genius to figure out that Klaus was into Caroline. He never tried to hide it, and the other characters often used his feelings for her to their advantage. Because of how evil Klaus is made out to be, it was easy to see his interest in Caroline as a simple infatuation.

However, Caroline realized that Klaus genuinely loved her, which meant that he was capable of redemption. Despite hallucinating from a werewolf bite, Caroline was still able to read Klaus better than anyone else.

Klaus Intends To Be Caroline's Last Love

Caroline and Klaus had formed a friendship by the end of The Vampire Diaries Season 4, and when she sends him an invite to her graduation, he travels all the way from New Orleans to attend. He saves everyone's lives while he's there, and proves just how far he's come from the second season of the show.

Before he leaves, Klaus allows Tyler to return to Mystic Falls, knowing that it was the only way for Caroline to be happy. In one of the softest moments in the series, Klaus kisses Caroline on the cheek and tells her he intends to be her last love.

In the 100th episode of the series, Klaus returns to Mystic Falls. Caroline and Tyler had broken up after Tyler chose revenge over being with her, and there was nothing stopping Klaus and Caroline from finally acting on what was between them.

Caroline makes Klaus promise that he'll never return to Mystic Falls if she's honest with him and he agrees. Caroline later admits that she had only planned on kissing Klaus, but she wasn't able to stop herself from taking things further.

As promised, Klaus didn't contact Caroline after they slept together in The Vampire Diaries Season 5. When Stefan shows up in New Orleans and Klaus refuses to help him, Stefan accidentally leaves his phone behind. He gets a call from Caroline, and Klaus answers it.

Their conversation seemed to have a strong impact on Caroline, and he tells her, "It's not a crime to love what you cannot explain," in regards to Alaric's children. After hearing how miserable Caroline is, he promises her that he'll ensure Stefan's safety. It was clear to Stefan that Klaus still cared about Caroline, and he promises that he'll do right by her.

When rumors fly about Klaus, Rebekah sends Caroline to track him down. It had been years since Klaus and Caroline had last seen each other, but if anyone would be able to talk sense into him, it was her.

Despite how long they'd been apart, Caroline once again proved that she knows who Klaus really is. She knew Klaus and knew that there had to be a reason for his behavior. The scene is especially meaningful for Klaroline fans because Klaus had always wanted to take Caroline to Paris after he suggested going there on their first unofficial date years ago.

Caroline Helps Klaus Find His Daughter

After Hope runs away from Caroline's school, she and Klaus attempt to track down his daughter. They share several pivotal scenes throughout their impromptu road trip that reference their time together in The Vampire Diaries.

Caroline admits that she wonders if Klaus would notice her if they hadn't met until the present, but he puts her theory to bed. There's more love and less tension in the way they interact, and Klaus assures Caroline that it would be impossible not to notice her.

Unable to stop Klaus from sacrificing his life to save his daughter, Caroline shows up at his door. In a full-circle moment, Klaus finally gets to show New Orleans to Caroline, just as he'd wanted to all those years ago.

When the time came for them to say goodbye, Caroline and Klaus kissed before parting ways. Caroline promises Klaus that she'll never forget him, and Legacies has even paid tribute to the couple by revealing they were married in an alternate universe.
