Hope is Legacies' strongest vampire type, a tribrid, and The Vampire Diaries' Mikael is the oldest and toughest Original Vampire Hunter, raising the question of who would win in a fight. Mikael, who is more than a thousand years Hope's senior and never without his raging hatred of the existence of vampires, was a skilled Viking warrior and always strong enough to overpower the Original Vampires with ease. Capable of sustaining several werewolf bites and still managing to slaughter the lot of them, his resilience to pain may have been his greatest skill mastered.
Mikael, however, is still an Original Vampire and succumbed to his death from Vampire Diaries' white oak stake to the heart. While Hope’s combat skills are likely not on par with those of Mikael, she still has her werewolf venom and magic to aid her. As a descendant of Esther and the firstborn, her magic prowess has been noted several times to be on a level vastly beyond typical witches, if she can control it. A drawback of Hope's werewolf side is her aggressive temperament which could make controlling her magic difficult. She may even run the risk of her magic being suppressed by Nature or the Ancestors. Lastly, like her step-grandfather, Mikael, a red oak stake to the heart will be fatal. As for who would win this fight, it may end just as Nature intended.
How Mikael Could Beat Hope In A Fight
Hope has shown in Aurora's story that she can be quicker and stronger than a thousand-year-old vampire, but even Klaus struggled to defend himself against a werewolf venom-laced Mikael. On sheer strength and speed alone, Mikael will likely come out the victor against Hope even if she managed to get a werewolf bite or two in. That being said, without the red oak stake, all Mikael could do at best is temporarily incapacitate Hope. That's assuming Hope's vampirism is that of the Original variety–capable of surviving decapitation and removal of her heart. If that's not the case, then all Mikael would need to do is remove Hope's head or heart to settle the fight completely.
How Hope Could Beat Mikael In A Fight
The threat of Mikael's strength and speed can be mitigated with magic and a hefty dose of werewolf venom from Hope. It is not confirmed whether Hope's tribrid bite could be lethal to an Original Vampire like that of a certain type of vampire in the Vampire Diaries universe. Still, it may not be entirely necessary. There are a variety of spells in Hope's arsenal including boundary spells, pain infliction, and forced desiccation. No matter how strong Mikael may be, he is not impervious to magic, as Bonnie's mother proved capable of putting Mikael to sleep with a forced desiccation spell.
This fight so far has been without weapons. If both fighters were equipped with their opponent's lethal stake, then it would be a matter of speed and strength on Mikael's part, but one of ingenuity on Hope's. Dhalia's cleverness against the Original Vampires forced her to turn the white oak stake into dust and spread it into their lungs. Unfortunately, there are currently no known remnants of the white oak tree to fashion a stake to kill Mikael in any way. That could be just how Nature intends to deal with balancing the predatory nature of vampires and Hope potentially creating more tribrids. Thus, like her family on the run through the centuries, this could keep Legacies' Hope forever in check in The Vampire Diaries universe.
