Riot Games, known best for its multiplayer online battle arena League of Legends with a roster of over a hundred unique characters, is now developing a tactical first-person shooter called Valorant that will also allow players to pick characters that offer a variety of play styles. Players can expect that Valorant will not only share the same level of competitive support and anti-cheat efforts from League of Legends but also system designs that have worked for Riot in the past.

In League of Legends, players are given a couple of champions in the beginning along with a weekly rotating selection of free to use champions, but past that, players have to earn in-game currency to purchase other champions that they wish to play. Valorant currently has a much more manageable roster and players will likely want to get a feel for as many agents as possible while playing in the early access. This guide will teach players how to unlock more of the ten playable agents in the early access version of Valorant.

How To Unlock More Agents In Valorant

Valorant Agent Select

Players will automatically have five out of the ten playable agents available unlocked for free at the start, including Brimstone, Jett, Pheonix, Sage, and Sova. This allows players to always have at least one agent to play as, seeing as there can only be one of each character on a team. Unlocking the rest of the agents will require the player to earn experience through playing games of Valorant. Once the player has earned enough experience to reach level five, they will earn a free agent unlock and can redeem it in the Agents tab of the collection menu. This will also happen at level ten, meaning the player will have access to seven of the ten agents available just by playing the game for a short period of time.

For the remaining agents, players will need to either take on contracts that will require the player to earn larger amounts of experience or buy the levels using Valor Points. Players can find the contracts on the same screen as recruitment. Scroll over to a locked agent and there should be a button that allows the player to view the contract. Each contract unlocks the agent at its fifth level. Valor Points can be used to purchase these levels and the first five levels of any agent are obtained when using a free agent unlock.

With this system, players can obtain the agents they know they want to play and slowly work towards unlocking new ones while doing so. Just be sure to activate the contract of the agent that is desired!
