In only four days, Valheim has managed to shift another one million copies on Steam, bringing the title's total sales number, thus far, to a staggering three million. Such exponential growth serves as but another example of the survival title's meteoric rise in popularity.

Within a week of its Steam Early Access launch, developer Iron Gate revealed that Valheim had achieved one million units sold. Not too long thereafter, the co-op survival game reached yet another sales milestone of two million copies sold on Steam. Valheim's continued rise shows no sign of stopping either, and it's clear to see why. The game's intriguing premise places players in the role battle-slain Vikings who are ferried off to Valheim - the 10th Norse realm. In exploring the realm, players can craft items, team up with friends, and battle the most formidable of mythical beasts. And while Iron Gate's already successful endeavor does indeed tick many of the survival genre's boxes, it's unlike anything else on the market, which separates Valheim from the likes of Rust in interesting ways.

Today, Iron Gate took to Steam to inform players of another incredible milestone. Four days after the studio shared news of Valheim's topping two million in sales, the game managed to increase its total by another one million units. As such, Valheim has officially hit three million units sold in Steam Early Access. Iron Gate's post additionally confirmed the survival game currently boasts more than 60,000 "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam. It now counts among the platform's top 250 best-reviewed titles, presently holding the number 78 spot. Valheim's performing well elsewhere, too, surpassing Rust, Dota 2, and Minecraft as the seventh most-streamed game on Twitch.

That Valheim has achieved this level of a growth after less than a month of availability is nothing short of an impressive feat. Though there's no set date for when Valheim will leave Early Access, the title will likely continue expanding in popularity until the time comes. And when it does, Iron Gate may have an even bigger hit on its hands.

In the meantime, the studio plans on keeping Early Access players busy for the next several months. A number of major updates are planned, including the launch of a brand-new biome called the Mistlands. Potential bonus content includes the arrival of moon phases, a sandbox mode, and combat enhancements. As of writing, though, release details concerning these additions aren't publicly known.
