A player managed to meticulously recreate Paris, France's Notre Dame cathedral in Valheim; apparently, the build caused the player's performance to drop to 12 frames per second. In the several weeks since its launch on Steam Early Access, Valheim has reached a sales milestone of five million copies sold.

And it seems the vast majority of those players are enjoying themselves, evidenced by the excellent user reviews on Steam and the unceasing positive word-of-mouth. While there are those who are content with playing Viking, slaying beasts, crafting weapons, and so on, there also exists a contingent of players who've devoted plenty of time to exploring every facet of the wider experience. Thus, one person built a functional beer pong table in the 10th Norse realm. Another brought Star Wars' Millennium Falcon to the survival game. But while some fans have been recreating locales from popular culture, and probably battling Deathsquitos while doing so, one Valheim user took it upon themselves to craft a real-world landmark in-game.

A Redditor who goes by GlPv recently shared their recreation of France's Notre Dame cathedral in Valheim. Needless to say, it's a hulking construction whose exterior looks packed with an unbelievable level of detail. GlPv explained that for now at least, the building's vast interior stands empty. That the inside of this Notre Dame build remains unfinished is no surprise, given that another comment from the player said their frame rate dropped to 12 on max settings.

Like so many other Valheim constructions, this one serves as a testament to how dedicated players have already become. It also represents yet another example of what's possible thanks to developer Iron Gate's remarkable toolset. And who knows what players will be able to accomplish as the Early Access period goes on, especially since the studio has promised more content is coming to Valheim?

According to a content roadmap from Iron Gate, four different updates are planned for Valheim while it's in Early Access. One will center on "Hearth and Home," the second will introduce "Cult of the Wolf," and the third should revolve around "Ships and the Sea." The fourth update is expected to usher in a foreboding new biome known as Mistlands. As of writing, neither of these updates have firm due dates attached.
