A Reddit user has recreated a classic meme from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the survival sandbox title Valheim. The massively popular open-world role-playing game Skyrim, developed by Bethesda Game Studio, released back in 2011 and is considered to be one of the greatest games of all time. Valheim, developed by Iron Gate Studio, shares Skyrim's Norse-inspired aesthetic but places players into a procedurally generated world and challenges them to survive.

As a sandbox title similar to MinecraftValheim puts a heavy emphasis on creativity and player freedom. This design focus has led to a large number of impressive fan builds, as players unleash their creativity and use the game as a canvas to create. One Valheim player recently paid tribute to an iconic cartoon series by recreating Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward's houses from the show Spongebob Squarepants. The homes are stylized and a bit abstract, since the creator needed to use tools available in the game, but they are nonetheless unmistakable as pieces of underwater Bikini Bottom real estate. While Patrick's house is a simple pile of rocks, Squidward's moai head is made from various pieces of construction, and Spongebob's pineapple is an impressively balanced bunch of sticks. Another Valheim player has built a sky-scraping tower in the middle of the game's vast ocean.

Reddit user bo_the_viking recently posted a recreation of an old Skyrim horse meme made within Valheim. The image depicts the player running up an extremely steep mountain slope, with the text reading "F*ck physics, I'm a norse." The post is a reference to old memes frequently created after the release of Skyrim which were meant to poke fun at the game's physics engine. Images would depict horses running up impossibly steep terrain, a frequent occurrence in Skyrim, and these images would be accompanied by text such as "Physics? I'm a horse."

Even as the ten-year anniversary of Skyrim's launch approaches, fans continue to pay tribute to the massively iconic title. One talented fan recently made a perfect replica of Skyrim's Skeleton Key item, an indestructible tool that allows players to pick locks without worrying about wasting valuable lock picks. The sneaky creation, made out of oven-baked clay, is accurate enough to look like an officially licensed product from Bethesda.

Nearly a decade after its release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim continues to be an integral part of video game culture. The game is available on numerous platforms, and it is regarded as a must-play gaming experience by many. While Valheim gives players a very different gameplay experience compared to the open-world role-playing masterpiece, the two games share a Norse aesthetic and large popularity among gamers.
