A new Valheim mod drops The Witcher 3's Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and Triss into the Norse-inspired survival experience as playable characters. A litany of Valheim mods have expanded upon the base title since its Early Access release earlier this year. For example, someone designed a Valheim Necromancy mod that lets players summon combative skeletons during enemy encounters. An unofficial VR mod went live a few months ago, too, and eventually received support for motion controls.

Developer Iron Gate continues to update the adventure in its own right, introducing fresh content that provides users with more reasons revisit the expansion Norse realm of Valheim. The biggest of such updates, in fact, arrived in mid-September as Hearth & Home, notably unlocking access to extra furniture types, new building pieces, ovens, iron cooking stations, and much more. And while fans have spent the last several weeks perfecting existing structures or designing new ones, one modder in the community had their hands full with the world of the Witcher.

Thanks to a Nexus Mods upload from user SiennaGrace (via GamesRadar), Valheim players can now download a mod that turns The Witcher 3's Geralt, Ciri, Yen, and Triss into playable characters. Interested fans will need to first download and install Valheim VRM. Then, users can either create a new character named after one of the four Witcher heroes or change their existing character's appearance to match that of, say, Geralt of Rivia. To do the latter, players must "rename the VRM file Geralt.vrm and Geralt_Settings.txt file the same name as [their] character."

This seems a neat way of combining the fantastical worlds of The Witcher and Valheim, both of which are replete with monsters, trolls, and frequent reminders of the undead. How the likes of Geralt and Yen will navigate this otherworldly realm remains to be seen, but a skilled monster hunter and all-powerful sorceress should manage just fine.

Iron Gate deployed an Early Access version of Valheim earlier this year in February, completely unaware of the meteoric success that would soon come its way. As of this summer the title had sold approximately eight million units on Steam, a number that's likely climbed since the advent of Hearth & Home.
