It appears that Valheim’s Vikings are now on the verge of entering the steampunk era as one ingenious player managed to create a retrofuturistic floating airship. That’s a noticeable upgrade in comparison to regular sea vessels, of which there have been plenty.

Since there are seas and oceans in Valheim, it’s quite understandable that players started building huge battleships inspired by well-known real-life vessels. One such Valheim build resulted in a massive replica of the iconic Bismarck battleship historically used by Germans during WW2. The player-built model of the navy legend was an excellent display of one’s skill and talent. Not only the ship brilliantly recreated the scale and shape of the real thing but also inherited some of the craziest details, even including a small plane. One Valheim player, however, decided to create a fictional vessel with a unique design.

After discovering a failsafe method to create amazing floating structures in Valheim, the talented builder ButterscotchPure4043 moved on to create more elaborate projects starting with a steampunk-looking airship. On Reddit, the creator shared a few screenshots of the floating machine showcasing stunning details. While the overall design is just brilliant, the retrofuturistic cockpit is especially impressive with all the shiny buttons and rotating gears. There’s also a functional lab with clever design ideas and even a hunting patio on board the steampunk airship. Obviously, the floating machine can’t move but it nonetheless makes an impression of a movable object, mainly due to spinning windmills on the engines. Arch G also shared a detailed YouTube video that contains an interior tour and a guide on how to follow the intricate building process step by step.

While the amazing steampunk airship was based on the idea of floating structures, the initial inspiration was probably drawn from a different discovery in Valheim. One player managed to design an impressive curved monument using only straight building pieces that were specifically assembled to make an impression of a rounded object. A similar design was inherited by ButterscotchPure4043 in their original build of hovering crystal cases, although it is worth noting that the idea was elevated to a whole new level, both literally and figuratively.

It’s always fascinating to follow the progress of a single builder who is constantly improving on themselves. Judging by a huge leap in quality achieved in just a few weeks, it’s quite possible that the next project by the talented creator could be a whole floating steampunk city. That’s actually a precedent for developers to enhance the building mechanics rather than other aspects of Valheim since it’s seemingly the most popular gameplay system in the survival title, responsible for its longevity.
