The Workbench in Valheim is a powerful structure that allows players to build incredible homes and bases and craft and upgrade tools and gear, but it only offers basic crafting options that may not be as useful for players the deeper they progress into the world. Late in the game, after defeating the dragon Moder, Valheim's fourth boss, players can craft the Artisan Table. This crafting station is required to make three new crafting stations: the Spinning Wheel, the Windmill, and the Blast Furnace. All three of these stations unlock powerful new items, from the strongest armor in Valheim to Black Metal, which is used to craft the most powerful weapons.

Once players have the necessary materials and have defeated the boss, the actual requirements for crafting an Artisan Table are not difficult. In fact, all players will really need is an upgraded Workbench and some wood. Here's how to craft the Artisan Table in Valheim and what it can do.

How to Get Dragon Tear in Valheim

Valheim Moder in Air

Every boss in Valheim drops a specialty item when defeated that players will desperately need to continue progressing through the game. Eikthyr, the first boss, dropped the Hard Antler required to craft the Antler Pickaxe, which allowed Vikings to enter the Black Forest and mine ore. The Elder, the second boss, drops the Swamp Key, which is required to open the Sunken Crypts and give Vikings access to Iron for stronger tools and weapons.

Moder, the dragon boss of the Mountains biome, drops Dragon Tears, which are a requirement in the recipe for the Artisan Table. Players can summon Moder with three Dragon Eggs, which are found in nests around the Mountains biome. Dragon Eggs are heavy, weighing 200 each, so players will likely need help to transport them all to the altar or will need to be prepared to make many trips.

Moder can deal Frost Damage, which will easily kill Vikings if they aren't careful or prepared. Players can craft the Wolf Armor set to help them survive the cold environment and avoid freezing to death. They can use Poison and Fire Arrows to deal as much damage as possible and fight from range to avoid the brunt of her attacks.

Once Moder has been defeated, players can collect the Dragon Tears and bring them back to base to craft the Artisan Table. The recipe appears below:

  • 10 Wood
  • 2 Dragon Tear
A Spinning Wheel crafting station in Valheim

To build an Artisan Table in Valheim, players will need to select their Hammer, just as they would to build other structures, press F to switch to the Crafting tab, and use Q or E to find the crafting station. They can place it using the Left Mouse Button. Players can place the Artisan Table somewhere in their home base.

Unlike the Workbench, players can't craft anything on the Artisan Table right now. Rather, they can equip the Hammer again, and the Artisan Table allows them to build the following structures:

  • Spinning Wheel: Spins Flax into Linen Thread; used to craft Padded Armor and Black Metal weapons.
  • Windmill: Mills Barley into Barley Flour; used to cook Blood Pudding, Bread, Fish Wraps, and Lox Meat Pie.
  • Blast Furnace: Smelt Black Metal Scrap into usable Black Metal and Flametal Ore into usable Flametal; used to craft Black Metal weapons.

Players can't currently use Flametal in Valheim, but it is likely to become useful in future game updates.
