Val Kilmer shares a cheeky answer to the recent controversy regarding DC cutting a scene from Harley Quinn in which Batman performs oral sex on Catwoman. After rising to stardom with roles in Top Gun, Willow, The Doors, and Tombstone, Kilmer got the opportunity of a lifetime to become the next Batman for the big screen with Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever after being a fan of the Adam West series. Due to some reported issues between Schumacher and Kilmer and the star being busy with the film adaptation of The Saint, he was replaced by George Clooney in 1997's Batman & Robin.

Since Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy helped breathe new life into the IP, the Batman franchise has continued to expand to more than film, including the animated Harley Quinn series. Developed by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey, the show takes a different approach to the character as she finally chooses to end things with the Joker and partner up with friend Poison Ivy to build her own criminal empire. Harley has been a major critical hit since its debut on the now-defunct DC Universe, namely for its darker tone and sense of humor and though DC has been pretty open to anything regarding the show, apparently one thing didn't fly with them.

A few days after Variety's revelation of the cut scene, Kilmer took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the matter. Rather than outright speaking his mind, though, the former Batman offered a more cheeky and cryptic response to the comic book publisher's claim he doesn't perform oral. See Kilmer's hilarious response below:

Kilmer's departure from the role of the Dark Knight has been a frequent talking point amongst fans, though his recent comments in which he expressed his belief that Batman actors are replaceable because no one cares about the actor behind the suit paint an interesting portrait. But whether he had one film or multiple under his utility belt, Kilmer's cheeky response to DC shutting down the scene is right in line with what many are feeling about the news. It's a hilarious talking point to be having in the first place, but the ultimate decision certainly doesn't feel in touch with the tone of the series or the character.

Harley Quinn has appropriately pushed the envelope of its subjects and characters across its first two seasons, including actually unmasking Batman to his arch-nemesis, the Joker. Whether including the scene would've done anything for the story or character development of Batman or Catwoman is anyone's guess at this point. As recording began earlier in the year for season 3 of the series and Werewolves Within star Sam Richardson has joined the cast, the animated HBO Max series will be back soon enough to push the boundaries for the DC Comics world.
