US Agent (Wyatt Russell) and White Vision (Paul Bettany) are signs that Marvel is building toward the MCU debut of Hawkeye’s Avengers team. Jeremy Renner’s take on Earth’s Mightiest Marksman hasn’t led his own group of superheroes yet, but his chance could soon come.

Two characters who might have something to do with that are White Vision and US Agent. In WandaVision, SWORD used traces of Scarlet Witch’s Chaos Magic to successfully reactivate Vision’s corpse (without the aid of the Mind Stone). As a result, White Vision was born. At the end of the series, he had his original memories restored. As for US Agent, he came into play in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Steve Rogers’ government-appointed Captain America replacement. After becoming a super soldier and losing the mantle to Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Walker was granted the US Agent moniker and costume from the mysterious Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

It’s worth noting that both White Vision and US Agent are staples of the West Coast Avengers team, a group that was led primarily by Hawkeye in Marvel Comics. Two West Coast Avengers members being officially introduced in back-to-back MCU projects may not be a coincidence, especially with Hawkeye getting his own Disney+ series in the near future. It’s possible that Marvel is using these two characters to lead into the formation of the group.

The West Coast Avengers run into battle in Marvel Comics.

In the comics, the most important characters associated with Hawkeye’s California-based Avengers squad were US Agent, Mockingbird, Wonder Man, Tigra, Hank Pym, White Vision, War Machine, and Scarlet Witch. If Marvel were to use this team, they wouldn’t need every member, of course. Instead, they’d likely use the comic team as a blueprint and create their own version with a combination of characters from the comic series and new additions (like She-Hulk). They could eventually bring in Wonder Man, hire Hank Pym to be their resident scientist, and possibly recruit Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, who had a memorable stint with the West Coast Avengers in the comic books.

In the cases of US Agent and White Vision, in particular, they both make sense as characters who would help launch the MCU adaptation of the team. White Vision has his memories back, but no clear place in the world. Since he would remember being an Avenger, he could attempt to rediscover himself by aligning with a new Avengers lineup. US Agent too could be on the lookout for a new purpose. Val clearly has designs on him, but he could always forge his own path if she turns out to be evil. If so, both he and White Vision could end up crossing paths with Hawkeye and forming a new team with him. If Hawkeye’s TV show doesn’t end with him retiring (again), it could set the stage for a West Coast Avengers Disney+ series, with Barton, Walker, and White Vision making up a portion of the roster.
